I. Name and title of supervisor
I am interning under the Sales & Marketing department at the Hyatt Regency Guam. I am under the primary supervision of Mrs. Medel Cosico who is the Director of Sales and Marketing. Besides Mrs. Cosico, I am also being guided by Miss. Susan Navarro who is the secretary of the department, alongside Miss. Shasta Cejoco who is the Public Relations Manager.
II. Assumed adjunct position
I am an intern in the Sales & Marketing department. In this department, there are two sides, the sales side and the events side. The sales side is where all the booking happens with the Japanese, Russian, and Military market. I usually handle paperwork and filing in the sales side of this department. I basically have a “secretary” type of position.
III. Performance expectation
When I was presented with the opportunity to intern at the Hyatt Regency, I was really excited because I’ve always wanted to know how a hotel really runs. When interviewed, I was asked why I chose Hyatt and which department I was most interested in. Because the Human Resource department was aware that I was majoring in marketing, they suggested I try the Sales & Marketing department in the event it will spark my interest.
I met Mrs. Medel during the interview. She was very welcoming. During my first few days, she introduced me to all the head of the departments and also what each section in the department handles. Because she is a busy women, she directs us to Mrs. Susan for our daily tasks. So every day I’d come in, I’d ask Mrs. Susan what will my task be for the day.
IV. New skills, knowledge, and abilities on scheduled days
During the first few days, it was very overwhelming because of all the work I see the employees do in this department. It becomes pretty noisy in the office because there are three different people answering
