The draft report:
Draft report for Millenium Hollywood project unveiled
Millenium Partners and Argent Ventures have launched a new Web site releasing a draft environmental impact report on Millenium Hollywood, a mixed use project planned next to the historic Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood.
The proposed project, initially announced a year and a half ago, encompasses more than 1 million square feet of space on 4.47 acres split between sites along Vine Street just south of Yucca Street.
The historic Capitol Records Building and the Gogerty Building would be preserved and maintained and are operating as office and music recording facilities under long term lease, the developers said. However, the project would demolish and remove the existing 1,800 square foot rental car facility.
Using the Capitol Records Tower as a centerpiece, Millenium Hollywood will include two towers that could be as tall as 585 feet on the east side of Vine and 485 feet on the west side of Vine. The space will hold 492 residential units, 200 luxury hotel rooms, 250,000 square feet of Class A office space including Capitol Records and the Gogerty Building, 35,000 square feet of restaurant space, 40,000 square feet of sports club use, and 15,000 square feet of retail space.
The new buildings will be designed by Gary Handel Architects and Roschen Van Cleve Architect, who will collaborate with landscape architect James Corner Field Operations, the firm behind The High Line in New York City. The companies will design “extensive open space, street-level plazas, and enhanced pedestrian circulation encompassing approximately 25 percent of the entire site,” developers said.
The environmental impact report found that the project will have a long-term effect on traffic, with significant impact at five intersections. The developers said they plan to widen intersections to add turn lanes, contribute money to upgrade the city's traffic
