money and they laughed so they think money is just a joke. This relates to Cherry because she has all of the money she would ever need because she is a ”Westside rich kid” (Hinton 4). Also, Ponyboy stated that “I always thought she was stuck-up”(18). All in all, it is extremely clear how Cherry Valance’s outer life relates to the song.
Even though Cherry Valance might be judged as stuck up and snobby but in reality, she hates fighting and hates how socs and greasers can’t get along, this is best represented by the song Where is the Love by Black Eyed Peas. This song is about protesting about racism, gangs, and violence. This song is very much like Cherry because they both protest violence and want it to stop as shown in the lyrics “With ongoing sufferin' as the youth die young”. This is what Cherry stands for because she believes that fighting is unnecessary and people die young because of the fighting like Johnny and Dally both in their teen years. As Cherry stated on page 32 “We all see the same sunset” (32). Which shows how the only thing that separate socs and greasers is money and possessions. Also, the song stated that “It just ain't the same, old ways have changed new days are strange, is the world insane?” this states that the world has changed to be more violent and more hate has been generated towards both groups. Cherry relates to this quote because she hates the fighting and if she had one wish she would wish for all of the fighting to start.
