According to Introducing social stratification by Kasturi Dasgupta the major themes of intersectionalities are the relationships among multiple dimension and modalities of social relationship and subject formations. It is a system that operates to oppress, dominate and discriminate amongst groups. it explains how systematic injustice and social inequality occur on a multidimensional basis like gender, race,class, and sexuality. These identities overlap and impact a person’s chances in life greatly.

we see this in history when slavery was practiced. Being seen as an inferior race , these people experienced intersectional oppression and discrimination on many levels. First they were victims of racism where they were outcasted and seen us inferior to the white race. Scientific research were used to justified this acts of oppression. Secondly they were paid no wages for the amount of labor they do. They worked day and night sometimes without proper meals. This prevented from having any chance of building wealth. For a capitalist country who desires labor with zero dollars in return this was their greatest success, however we know that this created a setback for the African American communities. According to the article African Americans are still in concentrated neighborhood with high poverty and still lack full access to decent housing reports nearly half (45 percent) of poor black children live in neighborhoods with concentrated poverty. It also talks about the greatest contributor to the poverty is the inequality income. In this case we see how race intersects with class. Th white straight men are already positioned on the top of the social hierarchy, They will always be the most privileged group. We know that Homosexual men and women face inequalities do to their sexuality. These communities are often excluded and marginalized from expressing their sexual desires. Because homosexuality is seen as an illness and inappropriate. People of these community often face challenges on a daily bases within school systems and workforce . Gay men get paid less than straight men and are more likely to get fired. We also know that gay black men will even get paid lesser than than the gay white male. All of this inequality continue to advantage of certain people, in this case people of Anglo- European descent hetersexual
