George think Lennie is very ill so when Lennie does something that is bad he blames it on that.
When Lennie kills curley’s wife George blames it on that. Lennie really do not know what he has done until it's over. In the book he says “and then he whispered in a fright, I done a bad thing. I done another bad thing” (Steinbeck 91) Lennie was just trying to make Curley's wife be quiet and he did not know his own strength and he pushed to hard and killed her. He did not know what he was doing because he was
ill.
George shot Lennie because he want to put him out of his misery. He felt really bad when he did it but he felt like it was the right thing to do. Slim said, “you hadda, George. I swear you hadda.” (Steinbeck 107). When George did that all he was doing is helping his friend find happiness. George did not want his friend to be suffering anymore than before.
George did all of this out of love for Lennie. George was scared and hesitant when he did it but he pulled through and did it. He was helping Lennie but also helping everyone else from anymore danger. “ But George sat stiffly on the bank and looked at his right hand that ad thrown the gun away.” (Steinbeck 107). George does is very upset when he does this but if Curley did he would feel even worse. He believed that was one thing he just had to do no matter what.
In conclusion killing is justified in certain situations. George should not be punished for helping his only friend with the way he thought was the best. Yes, George felt terrible but he knew it needed to happen. Doing this was punishment enough.
