Jane Elliott is an American former third-grade schoolteacher, anti-racism activist, and educator, as well as a feminist and LGBT activist. She is known for her "Blue eyes–Brown eyes" experiment. After watching Jane Elliott’s experiments, I came to the realization that it doesn’t matter what group we belong in we are ALL racist. Blacks against Whites, Whites against Blacks, Hispanics against Whites, Whites against Hispanics, etc.…the list goes on and on. The fact is we’ve trained our children and their generations children’s to think the way we do and carry that out into the world.
Much proof of that is in the scene where Jane Elliott, a schoolteacher tells young children who have blue-eyes that they are smarter, cleaner, civilized than brown-eyed people. The fact that she said this to young innocent children will forever remain in my mind and the minds of others who watch this experiment month to come from now. People tend to place fear or distrust upon children at a young age causing them to hate others. It is much easier to convince children that our way is the “right” way, and to strike out at those who seem different. In fact, intolerance of differences is at the root of much violence in this world. The fact Jane Elliott went through with this experiment while certain children were losing their friends to the separation was just surprising to me. She didn’t have a heart to stop and think of the damage it could potentially cause the children later down the road. I would hope someone of a different race, ethnicity, or religion would also find it
