Janice Bowman’s current frustrations all boil down to the complaints about Derek Sinclair from customers. Although I will mention the little things that built up to this serious problem. Janice holds 13+ years in experience in her field of work, with those years behind her she hold a fair grasp on what it takes to be successful. Garden Depot has minimum full-time staff while mostly hiring part-time student help with so much turn over within employees the store has no formal appraisal. While having no formal procedures or responsibilities in place, it takes great work and cooperation from department managers to keep everything running smoothly. Derek entered the job having to no past experience at all. At first Janice tried to help out Derek by helping him out with invoices because a result of him not completing them meant it would affect work her as well. She later realized after she offered him a hand he began to take advantage of her willingness to help and passed his responsibility of the invoices completely on to her. Janice began spending way too much extra time trying to complete both his and her work. Using the best method of commination she approached him with the issue at hand. Shortly, after invoices were coming back with incorrect pricings and material usages. It turns out Derek has handed off his responsibilities once again to a lower level staff member This affects the entire business now because the lack of inventory slows the rate jobs can be started and the incorrect pricing of a job would be off. Derek having to experience made it extremely difficult to quote jobs according and with the lack of direction from Derek his employees were incorrectly filling out the materials being used. Janice took it upon herself to make a picture booklet organizing all the materials that could be used in a project, in hope that it would …show more content…
The lack of experience is creating inaccurate documents and creating an unhappy customer base. As there is no formal feedback system set in place and no direct responsibilities on any manger, it creates an unhealthy work environment. First, Janice should suggest that the management team should partake in training courses. This will ensure all management is equally knowledgeable on how to run a department efficiently, which then will resolve the customer service they present. (Bert Markgraf, 2018)
Secondly, create a training process for the employees. Having such a high turnover rate each summer of different students create an unsteady team. Having a training session at the beginning of each season will keep the rules and regulations fresh within their minds. Therefore, it will causes less work for management and allow operations to run smoothly. Lastly, an evaluation system should be set into place. Murray King should be more involved on the day to day operations, and create a report annually to let the mangers know how their performance is going. Therefore they will be able to address and correct any problems before they grow. (Matt Straz, 2018) These suggestions should be made to both Murray King and the

During the trial, Carolyn Howard, magistrate of the case, was fair in terms of applying the law. What I perceived about her was that she was a very wise magistrate because she never lost control of the situation. On the contrary, she stayed calm and never said anything with disrespect to others. However, from a moral perspective, I think that the case was not fair with the male who was involved in it since he was not the biological father of the child. If I had the opportunity to change the statute, I would rewrite it in some way that the legal father will be able to disestablish paternity and left him away from any responsibility related to the child. Also, I morally believe that the mother is the one who should be responsible for her acts.…

    1) Joanna’s diagnosis of the situation is that the department was fairly inefficient. The workload was not spread equally and fairly. Magdalena and the new workers had tons of paperwork, while the clique had time to socialize and not to do work. Moreover, Sam and Jose never reviewed the work done by the department; they were only focused on case histories. The employees knew very little about the department and couldn’t really explain the purpose of their job. Therefore, the morale was also low and this resulted in inefficiency.…

For the action alternatives one potential is to start enforcing a stricter probationary period, the current one seems far too laid back and instead the departments must constantly make personnel updates after every transfer of an employee so their work habits are properly detailed. Another would be to start looking to fill the Operations Centre positions more aggressively as right now almost fifty percent of the theorized staff is still vacant which creates higher workloads for the remaining workers. The last plan of action would be to…

I believe that Joanna should recommend that Sam Wilson reorganize and restructure the department as a whole. They should assign roles to each individual depending on their job description, to avoid the problem of having some people doing more work than others. Also, the top management has to involve the department in decision making and engaging them in giving ideas and enhancing their services. For example, setting weekly or quarterly goals and trying to meet them. This step also allows the organization to evaluate themselves and knowing how they’re doing. The more the workers get involved in the strategic part of planning, the more they feel obliged to meet those goals and the more they feel loyal to the organization.…
