Jesus And The Red Lamb Meaning
In darkness stirs the strangeness of desertion, the lonely hour beyond the supper’s sharing. Into this darkness Jesus slowly stumbles: the lonely Savior.

That broken bread and cup of wine completed, he with their hymn descends into the garden, a shade of prayer and solitude and anguish: our longing Savior.

In silence at the brutal inquisition, the searching for some reason to deny him, where anger, fear, uncertainty abound – there, stands the Savior.

Alone among the mocking voices, Jesus feels lash, and thorns, the cross, sheer isolation until the solitary warrior rouse love, and victory win.

So eat together of the lamb that, ready, we may rise and keep memorial this night as God leads us to life.

About the table spread for life, beneath the lintel’s mark, behold the Lamb is ready now: our Passover Desire.

On Colossians 3:1-4

Raised up with Christ: seek things above; attend the places of the Lord. Incline together in his way, for Christ’s our life, our hope, our joy.

Entered into the courts of God, installed with Jesus to God’s face, begin afresh, intoned with love where all is live and glory shines.

By death now raised into full life, begun on God’s eternal glide, refresh your will in Spirit’s way for here our hearts are free and lithe.

Above the boundaries of grief, assured of boundless glory’s gleam, intent on Jesus, heaven’s style, we are, O God, your company.

Offspring of our dearest Lord: freest, liveliest of all, so we find our God in light, Spirit’s breath who gives us life.

Now, the hour of all relief brings us to the heart of God, brings us freely to delight in the God who gives all life.

On 1 Peter 4:12-14; 5:6-11

In this strangest season, partner of the Lord, we entice the changes that afflict the world. So in the throes of grace disasters known, stand and joy in Jesus at salvation’s door.

Ever in the moment conflict rakes the soul, now in open passion, come, respond in hope. For in the anger, rage, insulting force found before us Jesus stands in rising grace.

Humble in the passion Jesus gives us now, stand in boldest wonder, taste the tang of bliss. For in the fullness Jesus offers you, enter with rejoicing, faith into joy’s share.

When Jesus speaks of the Kingdom of God His focus is on how people get into the kingdom, and how they need to live now. He taught that we enter His kingdom when we seek to live our lives in a reflection of that Kingdom and we respond to God with faith and allegiance. Peter had a difficult time understanding Jesus’ messianic role but after the transfiguration he began to understand that Jesus alone would fulfill God’s plan. This essay will trace the major teachings of the Kingdom and the growing conflict between Jesus and the Jewish leaders of the time as well as how this conflict ultimately led to the crucifixion of Christ.…

David Holsinger’s “On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss” is a moving piece for concert band that is based off text whose history dates back to 1873 when the lyricist Horatio G. Spafford wrote them in response to the sinking of the S.S. Ville du Havre and subsequent deaths of his four daughters who were on the ship with their mother heading to England. Supposedly, when going to meet his wife, Spafford stopped near where his daughters drowned and began to create the text for “It is Well With My Soul” (Holsinger, 1989. pg 2). The text express the hurt and pain that Spafford felt over the loss of his daughters, but focuses on his steadfast faith as he is able to proclaim “It is well with my soul” throughout the entire experience. Three years later, songwriter…

In a time where the majority of music is about making money, doing drugs, or having sex, it is complicated for music concerning other topics to gain attention. However, there are always a few jewels that beat the odds. Lecrae, the stage name of a Christian lyricist who piously centers his music around the teachings of Jesus Christ, is one of those jewels. In all of his songs there are explicit references that all of his energy is channeled into doing the will of God. Typically Lecrae’s genre of music is overlooked by the majority population because it lacks the pizazz in the beat that popular music has. As a result of this millions of people get deprived of the content of Christian music which has the power to change one’s perspectives for the better. Fortunately, Lecrae is one of very few artists who are able to blend the attractive rhythms of pop music with lyrics composed of the deep Christian concepts. In Lecrae’s “Chase That (Ambition)” the beat of the song alone captures listeners’ attention followed by critical lyrics of Lecrae convincing listeners that satisfaction in life would not be reached by chasing their own desires but by rather chasing to live a life after Jesus Christ.…

Loving your enemies does not seem easy, praying for them even harder, and doing both for those who persecute you, practically impossible. Conversely, during the Sermon on the Mount, recorded in Matthew 5:43-48, Christ calls his followers to love their enemies, a calling that perhaps seemed just as contrary to first century culture as today’s culture. However, as seen through Christ’s ministry on earth, he did not call his followers to what seemed easy, but to radically transform their lives to adhere to a higher standard of righteousness. This paper will, through investigating the historical, literary, and theological background of the passage, address Christ’s calling to a higher standard of righteousness, in pursuit of perfection through…
