Jim Abbott changed the world as we know it today in many ways. Jim Abbott was a major league baseball pitcher, but he wasn’t just no ordinary player, he was the only player that made it to the MLB with only one hand! As a result of being handicapped he overcame many obstacles to get to where he was. What truly is amazing though is how the MLB wasn’t enough for his hunger for greatness, he kept striving and even threw a no hitter! Not only did he overcome obstacles to become an inspiration, but he also meet with crippled children in hospitals and talked to them so he could keep sharing his story, not to give up! Jim Abbott overcame many trivial endeavours to reach the status he has come to. It takes a lot of heart to get to the MLB especially as a handicap.As most pitchers are in the show for money, fame, records; Jim Abbott was doing all of this just to prove a point. That it doesn’t matter how strong your athletic ability is, as long as you're able to put in the work and effort you can go anywhere. He goes around to spread his life story. “Raised in Flint, Michigan, by parents who saw in his condition not a disability but an extraordinary opportunity.”( Imperfect: An Improbable Life) He tells all children out there with disabilities that they can do whatever they put their mind too… just like he did. Now if that wouldnt inspire someone to get up and fight, who knows what would. This truly is an unbelievable man with a heart to inspire others, just as big as his thirst to acquire
