The whole concept and premise behind this workshop, is to help job seekers learn the nuances of using social media to find and connect with people such as recruiters and hiring managers, and cultivate positive online relationships, that can assist you with your job search and possibly help you land jobs. The speakers Patrick Stern and Kaila Carty are quite adamant in telling the audience that the number one way to get into a company is through referrals; “according to Kaila Carty, referrals is the number one source into landing a job with an organization.”
I happen to agree with this statement for example, let’s say I would like to land a position with the San Francisco Public Library (hint, hint) Jerry dear!! It would make life a lot easier me if Jerry, would be able to vouch for me. Jerry Dear would be known as what Patrick and Kayla refer to as an “internal advocate.”
Now there are a lot of different variables that go into a situation like this such as, availability of a position, do you fit the Job description, are there any education requirements, etc. These are some the things, the speakers did not really touch on, when it came to explaining to the
