Juilliard accepts 24 students each year (Juilliard Web). There are many requirements to get into Juilliard and it is said to be very tricky to get into. Personally, one of my main goals is to get into Juilliard. I have been dancing ever since I was a little girl, and I have always loved it. I feel very happy whenever I’m dancing and it’s just like magic, but when it really hit me that I wanted to go there someday was when we went to New York City to visit. I saw the Juilliard School and I was hooked. Ever since then I’ve been really wanting to go. I know I probably won’t but, I can dream. What is Dance? Dance is moving your body in a rhythmic way and is also one of the oldest art forms (Woodley 23). Most dancers are very passionate about dance. “Can’t you just skip rehearsal” their friends would say in ignorance to the passions of the dancer. (Jarvie 30) Dancers often run into this problem when they are very dedicated to dance. Dance can strengthen social connections (Woodley 23).

The Juilliard school is a member of the Lincoln Performing Arts Center(Juilliard School 186) and was founded in 1905 by Dr. Frank Damrosch, originally known as the Institute of Music Art. When Augustus Juilliard died he left his largest bequest or legacy for music. The trustees of this legacy founded Juilliard Graduate School in 1924. Later, the two schools, the Institute of Music Art and The Juilliard Graduate School merged making The Juilliard School. The Juilliard dance division was established in 1951.
