Looking at him now, you might think Justin Bieber has had it made from the day he was born. However, looking back on his life story will show you that just like all of us, he faced struggles as well. Justin was born on March 1st, 1994 in London, Ontario but he was raised in Stratford, Canada. His mom, Pattie Mallette, was 18 years old when she became pregnant with Justin. Before giving birth to Justin, she faced numerous struggles including drug and alcohol addiction and attempted suicide. His parents split up when he was ten months old and from then on his mom worked a serious of low paying jobs just to keep a roof over their heads. She did this all while fighting head to overcome her painful past of shame, poverty and abuse. From the day he was born Justin was all about music. His mom would blast music and he would wail on whatever was in his reach. It wasn’t long after his mom got him a little toy drum set that people started to notice he was playing pretty good beats. By the time Justin reached age 4, he could play the drums and the piano all by himself. At age 5, he was invited to play at a fair with his church band and he blew that performance out of the water! His mom couldn’t afford music lessons for him but that didn’t stop Justin. He figured everything out on his own, he continued to play and he continued to get better and better. In January of 2007, when Justin was only in 8th grade, he entered a local talent competition hosted by the Stratford Youth Centre. He went all the way through the competition and ended up coming in 3rd, which wasn’t bad for an 8th grade boy! This competition opened a whole new door for Justin.
After the competition, he became super excited about singing in front of people. This excitement leads him to try busking, which is when a person plays music on the streets for donations. The first time Justin hit the streets playing music he set his guitar case in front of him, hoping he’d be lucky enough to come up with at least
