The novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is about the Capitol which hold an annual game known as The Hunger Games. The games are a test of strength and skill in which the games the participants have to kill each other until there is one survivor. In the novel Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, childhood friends from district 12, have been chosen to take part in this year’s game. The novel is written in the voice of the 16-year-old protagonist Katniss Everdeen who lives in the nation of Panem in North America. The setting of the story is in Panem but the main part takes place in the arena where the games are held. The main protagonist of The Hunger Games is Katniss Everdeen, and the female tribute from district 12, Katniss is a strong and mature 16-year-old girl. Katniss is a hunter and is thought to hunt early to provide food for her family. Katniss is highly protective of her younger sisters and will protect them from anything. She is also very responsible for the fact that she is the one who provides food for the family. Katniss is strong and skillful in the ability to hunt making it quite helpful during the games. Cato suddenly approaches them being chased by mutant wolves, and they decide to climb to the top of the Cornucopia. Cato tried attacking Peeta but was pushed off and was overpowered by the wolves. As Peeta and Katniss think they have won the announcement, the announcement says there can only be one winner again. Katniss then takes out the poisonous berries and gives half to Peeta, just as they were both about to eat them the announcer shouts for them to stop and signifies them both as winners.
