Ken Rigby Argument
I agree with Ken Rigby because it is important to consider other factors into bullying, especially the reasoning/motivations behind the bullying behavior. Ken Rigby argument has many statistics and facts to back up his argument, while still being persuasive. Also, the article is well organized with headings for each important section, where he elaborates on the topic in that heading. Rigby has a great understanding behind the research into the desire and desires behind bullying behavior, this is because of his background which includes being a member of the National Centre against Bullying, an honors degree in economics, post graduate certificate in education, and a PhD in psychology. Rigby’s article seems to be persuasive while being informative,

The general argument made by Teresa Watanbe and Jason Song in their work, College Students Confront Subtler Forms of Bias: Slights and Snubs, is that victimhood is occurring in colleges around the U.S. More specifically, Watanbe and Song argues that students are getting effected by slight comments which hurt their feelings or emotions. They write, “minor slights harm student performance, mental health and work productivity,” In this passage, Watanbe and Song is suggesting people feel down in the dumps and they can't get back up because of all the negative energy to goes towards them. In conclusion, Watanbe and Song's belief is…

It is said that Chris McCandless was a bright and ignorant person according to Cellarmans argument and maybe others point of views. In my perspective I agree but disagree as well although I agree with the argument that was said by Callarmans. As I state a quote that was said by Shaun Callarman “ had no business going into Alaska with his Romantic silliness”. As it says “Romantic silliness” he was meaning that he wanted to die in a poetic but as well as a beautiful surrounding of love and happiness. He traveled to find himself into the wilderness to figure out who he is.…

One man’s logic is another man’s senselessness. One man’s routine is another man’s torture. Chris McCandless is not far from this analogy. In the novel, Into the Wild by John Krakauer, the eccentric story of a man who was living the American dream abandons society and takes off on a wild adventure, traveling America with nothing more than cheap hiking boots, a small riffle, and a ten pound bag of rice. But if McCandless had such an ideal life, why would he desert it? Perhaps there was an underlining issue that ate at his soul each day he followed society’s rules and his parent’s extraordinary expectations.…

At the time that Abraham first met Ann she was engaged. Lincoln was always more sociable around women who were already involved with someone. “Ann was engaged to John McNeil when Abraham first took notice of her. Some time passed and McNeil admitted to Ann that his real last name was McNamar. After this confession John left for New York to take care of family business” (Gienapp, 2002. pp. 21). John left leaving the availability for Abraham to act upon his emotions. “Abraham and Ann became conditionally engaged in 1935. Unfortunately, Ann died suddenly in August 1835 before the couple…

There are thousands of voices all trying to talk over one another, and it’s his job to see that they don’t. He does his best to offer each one of them a deal: go through him, and you’ll get an equal chance to speak with everyone. It’s a deal many of them take. Outside of their own circle, after all, most of these voices have little chance of reaching the limelight. If they let him act as a go-between, they can get a little farther out, even if it’s just to the other people desperate to be heard.…

In reality, people are able to be ethically responsible instantaneously at hand through their capability in doing so. People act ethically responsible when one is in need of assistance because their they let their sympathetic feelings of compassion take over their intentions. Ethical responsibility is a duty or obligation to ensure the individual’s well-being through specific commitments such as saving someone from tragedy. One piece of text that revolves around people having the capacity in demonstrating sudden acts of ethical responsibility is “Can the Law Make Us Be Decent” by Jay Sterling Silver. Reasoning and Argumentation 101 with Professor Fields touched on and developed many skills that can be used in daily life when interacting with others and their diverse opinions and views. Throughout my daily conversations I would often find myself noticing fallacies I had learned from reading the book and my notes in others’ arguments and opinions. While I was not the most vocal in the class, I do believe that I applied the lectures to my everyday life more than others. As a result, I gained many valuable skills for evaluating arguments which brings me a form of entertainment when someone says something that has no logic when given deeper thought. Additionally, social media is trying to lure in its viewers with ads using the power of manipulation more than ever. However, the class has taught me to see through the tricks of social media and evaluate the ads. One of my favorite class homework assignments was evaluating an ad because the deeper meanings…

As the United States population grew and whites continued to seize land from the American Indians, these Indians had to either adapt to these whites’ way of life or be isolated from all their traditional ways of living and be left to fend for themselves. In the nineteenth century, many commentators believed that these American Indians would find difficulty with modernization and adaptation. While this belief proved to be false, there are many sources that could possibly argue in favor of these commentators’ arguments. As more immigrants infiltrated the United States from Europe, there came an increased support for education in an attempt to establish cultural values that were shared by the majority of citizens. Americanization policies stated…

Bullying, an unfortunate but seemingly common human activity, has scattered itself through societies since the beginning of time. Today we experience the overwhelming attention bullying has garnered. With attention come questions. Is this attention warranted or exaggerated? Why? Many believe this attention is exaggerated but considering the cause and effect of bullying, the attention is definitely warranted and not exaggerated. On another note, taking action towards young children/adults accused of bullying as a crime is not appropriate. The attention for bullying is warranted because of the tragic effects and it’s continued widespread through technology, but that doesn’t mean these young, innocent children should be punished as criminals due to their youth and level of maturity.…

One assumption that the reader must make is that there are differnt kinds of bullying. The reader cannot assume that bullying is just physical abuse to agree with Lee Tunstall's article. The second assumption readers must be aware of is that bullying happen everywhere and at all ages. Many people think that bully just happens in school but it can happen in the workplace, or even in a old nursing home. Third of all, the reader must assume that bullying is a serious issue and it should be taken more seriously. Some people believe that bullying is just apart of life and the person getting bullied will get over it. In reality, bullying can cause long-term mental illness or even death.…
