“Coming,” said Kevin. He got out of bed and looked at his pet weasel, Daxter. He had named him after a character in the video game, “Jak and Daxter.” Daxter looked hungry. “I’ll bring you some bacon from downstairs,” said Kevin. Kevin walked down the stairs.
“There you are,” said his dad, “how’s your hand?”
“Still glowing,” replied Kevin. Kevin’s right hand had been glowing ever since he was born. The doctors were still trying to figure out why. Kevin never wanted his “gift” and for good reason. He was always different from the other kids and was excluded because of it.
Kevin ate pancakes and bacon along with orange juice. He picked up 2 pieces of bacon. “I’m going to give this to Daxter,” said
Kevin, “He’s hungry.” Kevin went back to his room and gave the bacon to Daxter, who ate it happily. Kevin looked around his room. It had red walls with a blue ceiling and beige floor.
“Kevin,” shouted his mom, “time for school!”
“Okay,” replied Kevin. He looked at Daxter who was still eating bacon. “See you after school buddy.”

“Hey, Kevin.”
“Hello Josh,” replied Kevin. Josh was Kevin’s best friend and one of the only people that didn’t walk away from him because of his “magical” hand. Then suddenly the ground started to rumble. Josh had to hold on to a tree to keep standing.
“The dragon is changing course again,” said Josh. Their entire town lived on the back of a huge dragon called the Blaze Breather. “C’mon, let’s get to history class,” said Josh who had just regained his balance.
As they started walking to history, someone said, “Hey!” They turned around and saw a little girl getting picked on by some bullies. They held a doll in the air. “You want this back,” said one of the bullies, “then try again when you're tall enough!” The others burst into laughter when the little girl started to cry.
“Hey,” said Kevin, “pick on someone your own size!” The bullies turned around and instantly knew who he was. He was known around town for his glowing hand and some people thought it was dangerous. Although nobody knew this for sure, people steer clear of him just in case. Josh, who was one never to believe superstition, quickly became Kevin’s friend.
“H-Hey,” the bully stuttered, “we don’t want any trouble.”
Kevin replied, “Then I suggest you give the doll back and apologize.” The bully nodded.
“Sorry for taking your doll,” said the bully. After the bullies left, Kevin turned to the girl. He motioned for her to move along and she did at that. The bell rang. “Let’s go Kevin,” said Josh. After school, Kevin went home. He got changed and filled Daxter’s canister with water. Kevin got a leftover sandwich from the fridge and turned on the tv. The Blaze Breather conducted electricity so all they needed to do was set the appliance down. Kevin let Daxter out of his cage and let him sit on his shoulder.
As they were watching, Kevin’s hand started glowing more than ever before. The next thing he knew, there was a bright light and BOOM he was in a pitch black place. He looked around and saw two things: Daxter and a box. Daxter was standing near the box and the box was near a dark figure. “You’ve come,” said the figure, “I’ve been waiting.”
