Kinesthetic Learning Skills
Upon completing the quiz, I found that my learning style results were quite surprising. Since I plan to have a long career as a businesswoman, I expected that my kinesthetic learning qualities would be low. Similarly, I expected my auditory learning results to be higher. This is because, as a future CPA and businesswoman, much of the information I will receive in my career is auditory and very little is kinesthetic. The other learning style results were middle of the road and expected. However, my strongest and weakest intellectual abilities, multiple intelligences, are bodily-kinesthetic intelligence and musical intelligence, which do match my learning style. Therefore, I could not be too surprised by the results. In terms of the other learning style results, they were middle of the road and thus not too remarkable or unexpected. …show more content…
Furthermore, I will use my body more as I solve problems and create solutions. This will involve handwriting more notes. It also means that I will incorporate innovative active physical modalities into my learning process in school and into my day-to-day work as a businesswoman. I resolve to reduce the time I spend on oral learning techniques, such as listening repeatedly to recordings of lectures as part of my exam preparation. I may even look at how something like the Kinect video game system could help me in my data acquisition efforts, since it was mentioned in the readings as a kinesthetic learning tool (George Lucas Educational Foundation, n.d.). As I progress in my studies and career, I will also take more opportunities to network with those with similar results to mine, so that I can further expand my learning

Following the assessment, the preferred learning strategy was a kinesthetic learner, close to being a multimodal. The score was one point different between a kinesthetic learner and an auditory learner. I do tend to use my hands, use all my senses, talk out loud and repeat myself, I prefer doing experiments and hands on activities. I also have good hand-eye coordination that most kinesthetic learners tend to…

I must say that I do agree with the results of the test, but there are some aspects of it that I feel to be untrue. In general, I have to always stay busy and involved with various activities. I like being around people, leading, teaching and stimulating others into positive performances. I also like to act on things as opposed to just talking about it. Other people view me as having an outgoing personality. I also am able to relate to and have friends from all walks of life. On the other hand, I am one who does have to think things through, plan ahead, and am very structured (with things in order). I think that I am more a Sensing personality than a Intuitive one. I am more practical and a more hands on individual. Meaning, I often use and trust my experience before words and symbols. (Humanetrics.com, 1998-2011)…

After taking the VARK learning styles questionnaire, I was defined as a kinesthetic learner. Kinesthetic learners take in information best by practicing using the information. This often involves physical activity, which is why most athletes are kinesthetic learners. I feel that the learning style assessment accurately described the way that I learn best. I do not gain much from just sitting in a lecture, but from actively engaging in the course material. Therefore, it is a valid claim that I am a kinesthetic learner.…

I think I do better acting out how things work while I am studying or doing homework. The assessment did surprise me a little bit because I was not expecting to score high with visual, aural, and read/write. I’m also surprised that I scored Kinesthetic by a point above of visual, aural, and read/write. There are some points where I could have been a visual, aural, and read/write learner. I would like to use visual because at times when I use a graph to look at different percentages that are about many different things, it helps to look at what item is better by the percentage. Aural would help be by listening to what others say about a topic and how they feel about it. It gives me the idea on what others think and how I can follow the topic and not mess up and make a fool of myself. Read/write would help me by reading through directions and following them, or rewriting notes from a power point. I would say kinesthetic is my number one learning ability to have because of being hands-on materials and do actions while I am studying and doing…

During the first nine weeks I have learned an immense amount about myself. The multiple intelligences, learning styles, and 16 personalities tests have taught me to understand myself and how I learn. When reviewing the results I noticed extreme accuracy in every field covered, including, how I learn, communicate, develop relationships and see myself. There were subjects explained that I had never before considered about myself so it was interesting to see how people similar to me perform in those areas. Results of tests have begun to improve aspects of my life that I did not know needed improvement. The learning style survey informed me that I am a solitary learner, although I was aware of this previously the conclusions drawn were still beneficial…

After completing the learning style assessment, the results revealed that I am a visual learner. My score was the highest in the visual category. These are the characteristics of a visual learner: They have strong visualization skills and they can look up (often up to the left) and “see” the information invisibly written or drawn. To add, they are able to make movies in their mind about information previously read and give vivid details. They have visual spatial skills such as sizes, shapes, texture, angles, three-dimensional depths are strong. Also, they have a keen sense of the aesthetics, the beauty of physical environment visual media, or art. I learn better by seeing graph, and charts in my notes or color coding for organization of information. Certainly, these…

In 1983 a professor of education at Harvard University, Dr. Howard Gardner, developed the theory of multiple intelligences. This theory states that there are eight different ways in which a person is intelligent. These different forms of intelligence are as follows: linguistic, or word smart; logical-mathematic, or reasoning/numbers smart; spatial, or picture smart; bodily-kinesthetic, or body smart; musical, or music smart; intrapersonal, or self-smart; and naturalist, or nature smart (“Multiple Intelligences” para. 1-2). It is not difficult to pinpoint which of these intelligences standardized testing primarily measures. For students who are not linguistically or mathematically gifted, the tests do not accurately show the students’…

Doing the personal evaluation was harder than I expected it to be. The most effective way for me to learn information is the Auditory Learning Style and Kinesthetic Learning Style. My score was 22% Visual, 50%Auditory and 28% Kinesthetic. As I read the tendencies for both the Auditory and Kinesthetic learning styles I checked each tendency that I do on a daily basis and realized that it’s split down the middle. As I was growing up I had a problem retaining information that I read. I would read a paragraph and forget half of what I read or just lose interest in it, then start over again. My first grade teacher caught on to this. When she would read out loud I wouldn’t have any problems remembering what she said. She gave me two things to try. One was to read out loud and see if I remember the information I just read. Two was to read it then write it down. At times I would write the same thing down up to five times. By doing this I was able to retain the information.…

My strongest dimension on the personality spectrum was kinesthetic. I think that the results of this test best describes the way that I learn best. Kinesthetic learning style refers to a way of acquiring knowledge in which the learner uses sense of movement to gain information about the world. This learning style is sometimes referred to as kinesthetic-tactile. Kinesthetic learners tend to loose interests in activities that rely purely on listening and viewing. Kinesthetic learners work best in activities that incorporate physical activity. I think that I learn best by using my hands, because when I can do hands on activities I pick up very well. When I can learn things by doing them I also tend to retain the skill easier.…
