As everyone knows, Korean women are famous for their prettiness. Koreans like to look at something which are good-looking. Being famous for having lots of decent doctors who does a good plastic surgery, we can tell Koreans have high expectations on a person’s prettiness. Therefore, in most of the music videos and commercials in Korea, there tend to be lots of pretty women. In my memory, Korea is a traditional country, in the ancient times ,women tie their hair up and dress up with every body parts covered up. With long sleeves and dress, only showing their hear and hands. However, now a days, women are extremely different. Just like we have discussed last lesson, the judgment of prettiness have changed over these decades. From recent music videos and commercials in Korea, it showed that most of the women are very attractive and always wearing a short skirt. This shows their slim body, and deliberately showing everyone their long legs and almost half of their breasts. This shows they now have different perspective on women’s prettiness.
2) How does the media uses one’s sexuality, nudity and k-pop to advertise?
After watching more than 10 popular music videos and 10 commercials in Korea, I have a deeper understand of how the media advertise their products. Firstly, I have discovered that they always add some sexy materials in the music videos. For example, Hyuna, a famous Korean pop star always dressed extremely sexy to attract audiences. Secondly, in addition of a sexy dance. Hyuna also gained more public attention. In the last part of her music video” RED”, she’d even went naked cuddling a monkey. To be honest, I am not a person who is into music videos. And this one did attract me by showing more and more interesting scenes.
