George Washington (1732-99) was commander in chief of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War (1775-83) and served two terms as the first U.S. president, from 1789 to 1797. The son of a prosperous planter, Washington was raised in colonial Virginia. As a young man, he worked as a surveyor then fought in the French and Indian War (1754-63). During the American Revolution, he led the colonial forces to victory over the British and became a national hero. In 1787, he was elected president of the convention that wrote the U.S. Constitution. Two years later, Washington became America's first president. Realizing that the way he handled the job would impact how future presidents approached the position, he handed down a legacy of strength, integrity and national purpose. Less than three years after leaving office, he died at his Virginia plantation, Mount Vernon, at age 67.

Washington was elected President as the unanimous choice of the electors in 1788, and he served two terms in office. He oversaw the creation of a strong, well-financed national government that maintained neutrality in the wars raging in Europe, suppressed rebellion, and won acceptance among Americans of all types. His leadership style established many forms and rituals of government that have been used since, such as using a cabinet system and delivering an inaugural address. Further, the peaceful transition from his presidency to the presidency of John Adams established a tradition that continues into the 21st century. Washington was hailed as "father of his country" even during his lifetime.[3][4]

    * George Washington’s first job was as a land surveyor, which enabled him to buy land. After the death of his older brother he was asked to take his position as adjutant general of the colony. His main responsibility was overseeing the militia of the districts and with this experience, a year later he served as a colonel in the French and Indian War. By the late 1700's he gained ample amounts of recognition for his militia experience and was appointed military advisor for New York, defending it from British attack. I know I just said that their pitching might be lacking experience, but as a team, the pitching is great compared to other teams. The Dodgers will most likely face off against the Washington Nationals come October, and the pitching matches will be nothing, but spectacular. In game 1, the presumptive pitchers would be Clayton Kershaw and Max Scherzer, game 2, would be Rich Hill and Tanner Roark, and game 3, if there is a game 3, the Dodgers would start Kenta Maeda, but the Nats starting pitcher would be unknown. Just to let some people know, Stephen Strasburg has an injury and his timetable is unknown and that is why I don’t have him starting in October. Besides the starting pitching, these two teams relief pitching is #1 and #2. The Nats being #1 and Dodgers being #2, by a .08 differential in ERA. On the offensive side, the Dodgers have depth and the presumptive NL RoY and contender for NL MVP in Corey Seager and the Nats have solid veteran consistency and a NL MVP contender in Daniel Murphy. Even though both teams have pretty solid offensives, the game will be decided on the mound.…

As the first president of the United States, George Washington was greatly influential in shaping the government to be the one we have today. Prior to his political career, Washington began as a soldier in the French and Indian War, where he was rewarded with the rank of colonel for leading a poorly trained army of 150 men to defeat a French force and kill a French minister. However, Washington resented the Royal government’s lack of respect for colonial leaders and resigned. After his resignation, Washington displayed strong leadership skills as the justice of peace in Fairfax County, a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses, and as a vestryman. During the Revolutionary War, Washington was appointed commander of all the colonial forces after the battles of Lexington and Concord. His victories maintained the patriotic morale of the…

For this analysis, I count Chris Davis earning $17 million in 2017 and disregard his deferred cash. I also do the same for O’Day but not for Jimenez or Hardy. In addition, I presume that Bundy will get a pay cut this year and will earn only $1.5 million. In theory, this gives me a few million dollars to spend on signing minor league players, but I also think that the Orioles are unlikely to spend $160 million this season. I also think that the Orioles would be able to add a major league ready corner outfielder if they traded Tillman and Brach and this would save a few million. The starting rotation would take a hit due to the loss of Chris Tillman and the bullpen would struggle to replace Brach, but the offense would be about the same due to some of the new additions and the defense would be much improved. For 2018, the Orioles would be at roughly $114 million in payroll and therefore would have the flexibility to add a top free…
