Lashunda I Like Your Thought Process
Lashunda- I like your thought process, even though there is little research on this topic, it doesn’t promote a four or five day week one way or another. When it comes to childcare concerns, it may be easier for parents to find a sitter one day a week rather than a large period of time over the summer. Anytime changes are implemented there is always a period of uncertainty, I too would be willing to try a schedule change if it might be better for our students.

The play Titus Andronicus is mainly filled with male characters with the exception of Tamora and Lavinia. While these two women are complete opposites of each other, they both display womanly power in their own way. Tamora, who was once Queen of the Goths, goes from being a helpless prisoner to the most powerful woman in Rome. Lavinia is considered powerful as well because she is engaged to Bassinius, the son of the former Emperor of Rome. Both women exhibit helplessness and power at some point in this play.…

Some people claim that it will raise scores because of the idea students will be more attentive in school, thus increasing their intellect. Despite these claims, the test scores of students do not significantly increase or decrease. Similar to Beesley and Anderson 's suggestion, it seems that schools save money while maintaining comparable test scores. (The Four-Day School Week: Information and Recommendations, pg. 26). Overall, it seems as though the benefits of a four-day school week are strong enough for it to pull through despite the fact it doesn 't dramatically increase test…

Over all public schools, there are only 4% that operate on a year round calendar. In that 4% there are 2 million students learning under a year round basis. Besides, year round schedules mitigate education loss from the previous school year. It also tarnishes the tradition of summer break, according to “Should You Give Up Summer Vacation?” by Laura Kelsey. Evidently the year round calendar is a prime solution to alter failing grades and help struggling students catch up. For instance, some students are overwhelmed with work and drama that occurs in school. With that in mind, year round schedules have more spread out recesses eradicating the overwhelming school environment. Simultaneously, year round calendars lessen memory loss between long breaks. Thus helping students retain and understand their curriculum. Lastly, studies show that American students are less proficient in academic topics.…

One of the biggest issues that comes with year round school programs is the possibility of decreased quality family time, as many people use the long summer break to take extended vacations. However, most of the breaks provided by the yearlong calendar allow for at least two weeks of down time. In fact, parents with year round students find that they “appreciate the flexibility provided by year-round schooling, as it can be easier (and cheaper) to plan vacations during off-peak times.”…

A literary element I liked about We Were Liars was theme. The theme of “We Were Liars” is the importance of family. In the story the Sinclairs aren’t a family, Cadence’s mother and aunts pressured the Liars into acting a certain way that grandfather wanted. So the mother and aunts could get Clairmount and the riches. ”Welcome to the beautiful Sinclair family.…

Patricia McCracken also states, “It was really hard to get involved in the work because as soon as you geared up, you had to gear back down again.” Without a doubt, schools should not convert to year round schooling because it’s extremely difficult to find appropriate child care, it causes a detriment to family structure, and it also causes a financial…

Should public schools be scheduled to be opened all year round? Students would hopefully approve. Public schools should have a system where schools shall be open for a short while, and it shall gain extended normal weekends. Year-round schooling has many beneficial advantages to schools who don’t have this. To start off, “students would have a higher chance of remembering what they were taught” (Scherman). In addition, students will have a positive attitude when going to school. Lastly, having frequent breaks will allow the students’ and the teacher’s mindset to recharge or to cool off.…

    Year Long School Year

    • 3 Pages

Many schools in the United States are beginning to change their school calendar so their students attend class all year round. The changes still allow the students time off in the summer, but they do not have the three months of break most students in America receive traditionally. Instead, they get a break of a couple weeks in the summer, and the remainder of the time is divided up and put into other breaks throughout the year. All schools in America should switch to a year-round calendar to accommodate the different and higher level of learning needed to be successful in our changing world and society. The traditional school system was designed many years ago when our country was an agricultural nation. Therefore, the school calendar was developed having a long break in the summer so students could assist their family with cultivating crops and other aspects of farm life. The traditional school calendar was not a calendar for higher learning, and should be extended to meet the needs of modern day students. There are many explanations as to why the traditional school calendar should be changed.…

Moreover, having students stay in school for more days can help the school meet its needs. A better explanation would be schools would have no problems, economically. To prove the point, students buy snacks, lunch, parking, and materials. Students don't realize how much they help the school pay its bills such as diesel, supplies, and utility payments. Having a four day school week can increase the…
