Many Latino Influencers Believe English-Language Media Fails to Consider Latinos' Perspective in Reports

Immigration reform is the most significant issue that politicians must address according to Latino influencers.

175 respondents which were considered as community influencers were being surveyed when they attended the “National Council of La Raza (NCLR) and Telemundo's ‘Latino Voter Summit’.” The poll showed that the most significant issue that has an impact among Latino community is reform in immigration and Political candidates must address this. This issue is very popular among the 12 options, garnering 71% of the survey. Respondents were allowed to select two issues on that said survey. The second most significant issue is education,

Latino’s view on Legislators in Washington

Most of the respondents of Latino Voter Summit who took part in the Latino Decision survey believe Legislators in Washington, D.C. were not considering the Latino community when enacting a law. 72% of the respondents said that lawmakers have either a “very” or “somewhat” bad job in considering Latinos.

The 56% of community influencers also believe that the Republican Party is oftentimes hostile on Latinos against 2% for Democrats. 51% also believe that Latino electorates where taken for granted by the Democratic Party compared to Republican Party garnering 11%.

English-Language Media vs. Spanish-Language Media

English-language media also received a pessimistic view. 71% of those who participated in the poll believe that Latino community’s perspective was not considered when English-language media issue their reports, while 29% had an affirmative opinion. Spanish-language media scored better, 86% positive view compared to negative view which is only 14%.
