Most Effective and Least Effective Managers There are different kinds of managers that one has come across in their careers. The main role of an effective manager is one who has a positive attitude for tasks undertaken by him and his team. He plans and organizes the task and delegates the same in a positive approach to his subordinates. He trusts his team members and is always open to new ideas. He directs the team to take the best approach and never imposes his decision on the team. He always encourages innovation and thrives for quality and expects the same from his team. He takes up pressure from higher management and customers but does not put unduly pressure on his team. He is a good communicator to customers, higher management and subordinates. He strives to keep the team morale high by motivating the team and building their confidence. He is a good decision maker. The team relies on him during crisis situation. He appreciates the team for their work from time to time and rewards them accordingly. He treats and respects his subordinates equally irrespective of their age, race, sex and ethnicity. He understands and is accommodating about his team members personal obligations. He has a thorough understanding of the business model and is responsive to the needs of the customer. He takes customers’ requests with high priority and responds to the requests in a timely manner. If multiple requests are received, he collaborates with the customer to prioritize the requests so that he can deliver it in a phased efficient approach based on the priority. He is able to communicate easily with global customers and also adapt to their culture when required.
