Best Companies for Leadership Study that conducted by Bloomberg BusinessWeek.com and the Hay Group in 2009, revealed that best companies for leadership focus on employee engagement through commitment and discretionary effort and on employee enablement, with optimized roles and supportive environment, leading to financial success, customer satisfaction and employee performance – all to drive organisational performance. (SHRM Research Quarterly, 2010).
This report was made to explain the relationship between leadership and motivation, and why these both are important for managers to be aware, with reference to relevant theories and concepts.
Based on examples in PTEI to illustrate situation related with these both themes, it is can be seen that with key leadership element can motivate people to produce best outcome. However, it should be aware that with wrong approach and/or communication techniques, the purpose to motivate employees could be turn in different way and will not achieve the objectives.
Another output of this report, based on self-reflection and learning process through this module, the author could learn / understand more about her leadership style and managerial capabilities. The author also gives some recommendations and prepares some action plan for further development for herself and her organisation.
