Leadership - To lead or to follow? That is the question
Title: To lead or to follow? That is the question.

Assignment Topic:
Compare and contrast two leaders, at least one of whom must be a business leader. Which of the two was the more effective leader? Why? What skills did they demonstrate? These two leaders must be explicitly named in your assignment and will be drawn from your knowledge of them or from biographies of modern-day leaders. Provide enough details of these two leaders so that a reader, who does not know of them, will be able to follow the points about them that you are making. Your assignment should demonstrate that you know what makes a successful leader, manager and entrepreneur in any situation.

Executive Summary
Defining the difference between a manager and a leader comes down to a few fundamental elements. Within this is the bases of identifying a follower from a leader, and the situation at hand. Often great leaders are created form a critical situation, hence why a continual development plan on self-growth and organizational growth is important as it pushes a leader beyond what is expected of them in an everyday situation.
A leader can be defined in many areas of life. Being a parent would be the first real role of presenting as a leader. From there, career choices or situations then reveal aspects of a leader. Some of the most powerful leaders of today, have stated that through adversity, they become who they are in this moment as it taught them fundamental lessons in managing life.
To illustrate what makes a good leader, I will be comparing two personalities in this paper,
1. Richard Branson (Branson), because he really does some outrageous moves in business and 2. Anthony Robbins (Robbins), because he has this unlimited passion for creating unlimited potential in anyone he meets.

A dictionary definition of a leader is a guiding hand in a movement or group. My definition of a leader is someone who stands out amongst the rest and steps up to the task and helps the “followers” advance and strive to become a leader as well. The only way a leader can be effective is by leading by example. A prime example of this is Malala Yousafzai. She was shot in the face for trying to go to school. If she hadn’t gone to school she wouldn’t have been shot, but she also wouldn’t have a Nobel Peace prize. She is now using her story to speak for access to education for everyone. A leader is someone who leads by example and uses their skills to help others succeed.…

There are many definitions of leadership. The Collins English dictionary defines leadership as “the leader(s) of a party or group.” Yet true leadership is much more than that. A leader can be the chief executive officer of an organization, or a first year employee who leads his or her team to success behind the scenes. A leader might lead through official authority and power, yet just as often great leaders lead through inspiration, persuasion and personal connections. Teaching others to be a leader is a daunting task within itself (Pankaew, 2013).…

A leader is a person that is profound and willing to lead the people to success and prevent any world wide disputes from happening. Also a leader is one who reason with one another to get a better understanding of the needs people desires. The etymology of the word of leader is from old English. A leader is a person who represents the whole class and motivate them. I did not believe I was a leader. During my freshman and sophomore year of high school, I was a quiet spoken individual who listens to what others have to say. It was not that I did not have anything to say, but it was the fear of saying something wrong and others disregarding what I had to say. I did several presentations in high school that made speaking in front of people more easier. However, I was still the timid person who wanted desperately to break my shell but did not know how. A shocking moment had occurred when I had became secretary of Zonta Club. It was junior year and I was surprised to have been part of the leadership team. I was able to discuss my ideas and to speak with the members at ease. It was my breaking point. I was given a privilege to be part of something that made a change. I was not just the soft spoken person, but I was a leader…

The dictionary defines a leader as someone who leads. This definition in not helpful for anyone wanting to become a leader themselves because a leader is so much more than someone who leads. A leader has great virtues that allow them to obtain the trust of others. Through leadership experiences, one will learn the qualities needed to be a leader. I have gained leadership experiences through hockey, work and student government. These experiences taught me to be calm, passionate, and gain the respect of others. I have learned how to express these traits through integrity and the desire of becoming a better leader.…
