A dead air fell over a vacant room, filled with the elements of childhood. An unoccupied race car bed, stark blue walls, and an idle toy train complimented the eerie - yet somber - atmosphere. A dark shadowy figure lurked in the corner, standing ten feet tall - no definite shape. Slithering onto the floor and over the bed, the figure moved with haste, attempting to lurk as an agent of subterfuge.
Arriving at the bed, the shadowy figure froze as he saw it abandoned. Confused, the demon glided away from the bed, slipped under the crack of the door, and proceeded down a long, cold, and narrow hallway. Sitting at a table in the kitchen was a distraught and rattled …show more content…

Voice quavering, she proceeded to tell the officers, “W- We were just at the park... I lost him when he ran to play on the swings. I told him not to run ahead without me!”
The officers tried to calm her, “It’s okay ma’am, now did he have any problems at home, or is there any reason why he would run away?”

In the blink of an eye, the shadow creature moved to the lab tech, sending a chill down the tech’s spine along with a hint of childhood nostalgia. The bench was speckled with tiny spots of blood, along with Liam’s gloves and hat. A fire brewed inside the monster, and he moved to the bench and appeared to be almost sniffing the tiny mittens.
Who would do this - even to a child? the monster growled incomprehensibly. Moving with ferocity, the demon followed a long trail, winding through the town, following the scent of goldfish, blue raspberry Kool-Aid, and pencil shavings. Stopping, the creature followed the trail into a CVS Pharmacy and searched around for more evidence. Meandering inside, the demon scared the cashier - who jumped out of his skin and ran out of the store as quickly as his feet could carry
