Life Long Physical Activity Assignment
Question 1:
The National Physical Activity Guidelines for Australians outline the minimum levels of physical activity required to gain a health benefit and ways to incorporate incidental physical activity into everyday life. My own physical activity habits are at the average level but I they could be a lot better. At home I play a lot of computer games and at school I sit down and talk to people during lunch and recess. I could improve my physical activity if I cut down on the computer games and rode my bike instead. At school I could become more active by playing football or basketball at lunch.
Question 2:
List of projects:
* The local council can hold more group events such as Morrowa to Surf. If it is a group event people may find it more enjoyable and if there are other people around them they should be more motivated to do the physical activity.
* The local council could initiate a sponsorship system where people sponsor others to compete in an activity. The money earned will go directly to charity so it will also benefit charity organisations. This will leave the people participating to think they are doing something good and feel better about themselves so they will be encouraged to engage in physical activity.
* The local council could make advertisements showing people the seriousness of why they need to be physically activity. If people understand why and how physical activity benefits them they will become more inclined to become more physically active.
* The local council can help support sporting clubs and open new sporting facilities. This will give people more options for participating in physical activity and if they have more options they might find something that better suits them.
