I decided to pick two tools that seem very helpful for songwriters to write music. The first one is Hookpad. Hookpad has many useful tools for a songwriter to write their music. This is a great program for people who are beginners in songwriting. Even if you don’t know how to read or write music, this program can teach you little bit of music theory and how some notes can go well with other. The program gives you the ability to make you melody with just notes or chords, but also guides you if the chords or notes fit well in the pieces. Also, if your feeling stuck it helps you what cord/note goes well next. To top it off, once your done making your pieces, the program could convert you music into a music sheet, guitar sheet, or you had make…
Mahir Syed Intro to Theatre Working the musical Working, the musical, portrays the struggles that many workers have to deal with in a capitalistic society. The musical attempts to show it’s viewers that all people, no matter if they make minimum wage or two hundred thousand dollars a year, have made significant contributions to their society. The City College rendition of Working does a great job of conveying the message that this play attempts to send. They do this by having phenomenal acting, great costumes, and outstanding music.…
Listening to the ambient melodies, associated with classical music, have been linked to helping your brain harness it’s full creative potential. Having an instrumental track playing quietly while performing additional tasks, is just distracting enough to help your mind think in a more abstract way. This type of brain-training is appropriately termed distracted focus. “The way this works is that moderate noise levels increase processing difficulty which promotes abstract processing, leading to higher creativity” (Cooper). Although others may argue that any background music would…
As we will see, by simply listening to pleasant music in the background while doing an arduous task can make it seem so much easier, or in some cases, music may not increase positive attitude, but will ease the strain of an activity. A study was conducted by Shawn E. Mueske, a graduate student at Mankato State University, to determine the effects of background music on a biology lab. He studied to determine the effects of background music on attitude, achievement, time spent in the laboratory and on task behavior (Mueske 6-7). He used a control group which entailed one lab where no music was present, and one experimental group which listened to popular/soft rock music at an appropriate, soft sound level for background music (14). He found that there was no real difference in attitude or achievement among the two groups, but there was a significant increase in time spent in the laboratory and time spent on task…
In the songs “Jolene” by Dolly Parton and “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood, we are shown two women’s take on infidelity. One perspective shows us a woman’s vengeance, and her reaction to being betrayed, but does so in a way that is light-hearted and slightly comical. The other paints a much more personal and vulnerable picture, it’s Dolly’s plea to the “other woman”. Both of these perspectives are easily relatable to the listener, because we have all felt broken, we have all felt vengeful, and we have all felt the breath of fresh air after you pick yourself up.…
Music makes a person listen to the lyrics, think about the message in the song, and relate to the song.…
It sometimes feels like I’m in a movie and about to discover something important to the storyline, and it really helps me work faster and more efficiently. It motivates me to keep working when I want to take a break or take a nap. Most of the time, I am not very motivated to work or study, so when I listen to music, I feel more motivated than when I listen to more classical music. With a more upbeat tempo, I tend to work faster, and concentrate more so I can be as efficient as possible. Music with lyrics is distracting when you are trying to study. It takes attention away from the work you are supposed to be doing. Whenever I am listening to music with lyrics, I get confused about the words and letters fumbling around in my head. I get my ideas and the lyrics all mixed up, and I sometimes end up writing down the lyrics instead of doing work. This makes everything confusing, because then I forget the ideas I was thinking at the time. I also make a lot more grammatical and spelling mistakes. Then it takes longer to complete the work, because I have to go back and fix them. Music with lyrics also distract from studying. Lyrics also work against you when you are trying to learn things or remember…
People listen to music for a variety of reasons. Some listen to music to relax in which it serves as a sort of escape from everyday life, some because they are a fan and follow a certain artist, and others because they can relate the lyrics to their own personal experiences. Whichever the case may be, music has and continues to serve an important role in people’s lives.…
III. Relate Topic To Audience: I randomly polled 20 Purdue students with different majors, and 16 out of 20 said that they use music to help them focus on homework and assignments, while 1 used music during his physical therapy, to take his mind off of the pain he was undergoing.…
When you hear the word music, what do you think of it? Christians, the world, and I all think of it differently. The world determines what music is good and what music is bad by what others think about it. Some people might think that songs with swear words are good to listen to, while others have no limitation. However, Christians and I have a different view of music. 1 Samuel 16: 23 tells us that we should listen to songA that talk about God, and songs that use appropriate words because it could make the evil spirit leave us. Also, Psalm 95:1 tells me that I should never listen to inappropriate songs because they could influence me and they are not words that God would want to hear.…
Ninety percent of students find that listening to music while working improves their focus and productivity. Music has also been shown to improve memory in students and helps students recall certain things as music gets the brain stimulated. Listening to music also helps the brain concentrate by engaging in a specific portion of the brain that is involved with paying attention. Listening to music while studying also helps the student focus by having a background noise that they are familiar with and will be able to be comfortable with. If music helps students concentrates and relax while studying then why would we take that away from them?…

For some people, listening to music helps them focus and keep them on tasks. This i agree on. Music has been shown to help kids with ADD or ADHD, and it helps adults do better at their jobs. Music can also keep the environment more quiet because if everyone is listening to music then there is no time to talk to their friends or create distractions. When music is playing in class, it acts as white noise in the background preventing students from noticing little distractions such as pencil tappings, school bells, fidgeting, etc. While music blocks out the little noises, it also relaxes your body and muscles, music also calms your mind allowing it to think without as much noise as it use to be. According to Elona Hartjes 90% of students or employees find listening to music while working boost their focus and productivity, Elona also mentions that 69% of people humming along to music improves their job satisfaction of productivity. Music can only be distracting if you allow it to be: when you are concentrating on the work it becomes a tool. The beats and rhythm go along to help memorization. However there has to be some limitations, like during lectures kids will have to listen so they don’t miss out on important information. Now think back to how many times you have listened to music while working, exercising, or just relaxing, doesn’t it make you more energetic and concentrate? And isn’t that how we are suppose to feel when we are working or taking…
