Purpose Statement: Three items that greatly represent me.

Part 1: The distinction between the past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion. This quote is by Albert Einstein, which is a very interesting quote to me. So today I’ll be showing you guys three items that illustrates the illusions of my past, present, and future.

Part 2:

#1 – The first item is a check, which represents my past. This seems like an Asian stereotype, but it’s not. As a kid, I was forced to grow up too early, too fast. Unable to enjoy me childhood, forced to take the role of an adult. Despite having older siblings, I had to take things into my own hands even with my limited English skills at that time I was able to do many things kids my age couldn’t do.

#2 – The second item is this box, which represents the present me. In a way, I’m similar to this box, If you really knew me, you could see right through me, whether I’m telling the truth or if I’m lying. But that is not the problem; the problem is that I’m stranded in this maze. Confused upon which way to take, there is a lot of pressure for me to follow the footsteps of my siblings, and I don’t know if I can do it. Sometimes I take the wrong turn, sometimes I make mistakes and I know I’ll get lost, but eventually, I’ll find my way out.

#3 – The last item is this blanket. After my high school career, I would like to attend UW-Madison like my older siblings has before me. I want to double major in Biomedical Science and Laboratorial Science and hopefully become a Cardiologist.

Part 3: So I have shared a bit about my life to you and the illusions that make up my past, present, and future. Now that I’ve shared and showed you the illusions that represent myself, how about you, what are your

The purpose of Stephanie Hanes’s “Little Girls or Little Women? The Disney Princess Effect” is to bring awareness to the problem of increasing sexualization of little girls. While this trend is widely noted in the media and consumer market, it is a growing concern for parents and early childhood specialists, as it is taking a toll on the girls’ mental and emotional development. It starts when girls are young and goes unnoticed, but this trajectory eventually becomes evident. Stephanie Hanes is a freelance journalist who has written many U.S. publications. This article first appeared in the Christian Science Monitor where parents of little girls are her intended audience. Hanes not only presented to them the problem but also solutions to this ongoing predisposition. Hanes succeeds at proving her argument through providing anecdotes that appeal to her audience emotionally, logically, and ethically.…

The fourth object that I chose to represent me are my Girl Scout Vests. The vests represent me because I have been in a Girl Scout Troop since the beginning. As some people would say “I was an original”. By that I mean that I was one of the starters of the troop as well as my friend Marin. I have earned tons of badges over the years, and each one led me to a new adventure.…

Football has a become a favorite to every American citizen, but there are pros and cons to this sport. The Superbowl is always broadcasted on Sundays, don't we got better things to be doing on a Sunday. There have also been massive amount of riots and moshpits in which a good number of fans get hurt. I like them all because they make me think and have a different perspective on life, or they are a different way of saying something that I did not have the words for. The bookmark, as well as the word "books" is to state once more my passion for books. Like my quotes, books make me look at the world differently, or sometimes they are the best for making me laugh or cry. The tiny picture of the couple is my mom and my stepdad Sean. They are a huge part of my life. The photo right under that is another one that I took. I know, it is not much, but it is one of my favorites. The clipping of a flower is because I like flowers (No way). The word "color" is because I like color (I know, so vague.) I like how color adds depth and beauty to the world and makes it brighter and bolder. I like how it can say a thousand words or only one, which is also why my room's theme is "rainbow" (which might only be my family's nice way of saying nothing matches.) Basically, I do not think I would enjoy living in the world from The Giver. All the pictures of the random people are my friends. I love these people for who they are, and they make my life more enjoyable (this is also my explanation for the word "friends".) As for the stickers, the Christmas tree is there for the same reason as the polar bear on the pink side; I Love Christmas. Finally, the birds are because I am a bird. I do not stay in one place for too long…

One of them is that I performed taxidermy on my dog and parrot when they died. Everybody assumes that this was done while I was harboring my son, but they are wrong. I was absolutely broken when I learned that my husband was killed in the war. I felt as alone as if I was on a deserted island. By stuffing them, I am able to remember him as if it were yesterday, even though it was 20 years ago. The replicas conjure up these memories because they were his pets The second side to the “double-edged sword” as the agency man called it is that it makes my home look more inviting and congenial. This is something that, all through my life, I have tried to maintain. Sometimes it seems like the only thing I have to take pride in at this…

Those alike to me filled their faces with confusion; a hidden envy for all that has been given to me. Each of their pupils reflects my own face. A face holding a balance of gratitude and respect, and the other an anticipation of disappointment. My role in my future has been just to wait, but after countless years of just waiting, the future grows dark and sneering, ugly and terrifying. Its laughter reverberating off the walls I have faced each and every day. The unknown becomes a scary place, when all you know becomes all you had – my own defence is the reason to my hopelessness. I cling to familiarity only to find myself alone in my own confinement. My ‘personal space’ lost its liberty many years ago. When you are handed the gateway, to an exit, the very though will literally make your stomach convulse. With every knot untied, the memories spill forward. I remember many things about life outside. I cannot let them slip.…
