Lord Capulet In William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet was a tragedy. At the end of the play two young innocent lives were lost because of an old family feud between the Capulets and the Montagues. Perhaps several characters played a minor role in these tragic events but I believe that Lord Capulet, Juliet’s own father, was ultimately responsible for her death. In his selfishness and rage he separated his daughter from the one man she truly loved and also rejected his own daughter for disobeying his commands. These two factors let to Juliet’s demise; leading her to feel as if she no longer had anything to live for.
When Juliet does not agree to Capulets plan to marry Paris he becomes violent and enraged. In Act III Scene V he says “And you be mine, I’ll give you my friend;
