Love, family, and friends is the main theme of the Truman Show because Truman’s friends and family don’t have true love for Truman and are acting, Truman doesn’t really have a true family and Truman’s mother is trying stop him growing up.Truman’s friends and family including his mother, wife and friends don’t have true love for Truman and are only actors. Truman’s family and friends don’t have true love for him but Truman is forced innocently to love Meryl and has no choice. In the scene Meeting Meryl Truman is talking to Sylvia and is clearly in love with her but suddenly Meryl pushes Truman out of the way and starts talking to Truman, in the real world this is not acceptable behaviour but Truman don’t know any better. This scene is a clear example of Truman being forced to marry Meryl, secretly even though they both don’t have any real feelings for each other. Truman also doesn’t have a real family.

Christof who is the director has followed Truman’s whole life and he says to Truman “ I know you better than you know yourself.” This shows that Christof loves Truman and knows a lot about him, like most parents in the real world know about their kids. Truman’s acting father hasn’t played a big role in Truman’s life which makes Christof an even bigger father figure. Truman’s mother also plays a big role in preventing Truman from growing up.
