Lydians were Anatolian people living in Lydia that spoke a very distinct Indo-European language. The Lydians live in what we know as Turkey. Lydians have three dynasties traceable of the late bronze age. Most did not know where the Lydians live was part of Mesopotamia. The trading group that was most impactful to history was the Lydians because of three reasons: their gold deposits, money system, and location.
Lydians were very impactful throughout history for three reasons. The gold deposits help the Lydians out in a tremendous amount. Migration came with all these gold deposits. The Lydians also had people from other countries wanting money. The Lydians also had become really really wealthy from these deposits because they thought there was no end to the gold deposits.
One nice thing the Lydians could do was barter amongst other trade groups with their gold deposits in return for their goods. All of a sudden the gold deposits were the gateway to wealth and success. This money system started out with coins that held a value and later on in time paper that help a value known today as a dollar. This money system gave the Lydians a big jump start in society over the Phoenicians and the Aramaeans for one main reason, wealth. They were really rich and could buy anything they wanted as the other two trading groups couldn’t. The mighty money system allowed the Lydians to basically get whatever they wanted because they looked at the money system as a system of power.
