“Maame Hw3” is a music video by Ebony directed by Prince Dovlo and produced by Ruff Town Records & Midas Touch Inc. In this video we see an example of a man who is very abusive to a woman. Not a typically expected, but rather informative. It tells us audience of what some women goes through daily in their respective relationship. In “Maame Hw3” which simply means mom look, we see an unhappy wife who is constantly beaten by someone she calls her husband. Most women turn to keep quiet about their abusive partners but this video is to empower them to leave and get help before it’s too late.
The husband, very well built represent the male role in society, where men are seen as the heads in the family therefore whatever they say goes especially in the African society. The video began with a back view of a woman, she then turn to look straight at us with a very sad face and walks away, then we hear a voice of a woman crying out her anger to someone. Red is stimulating, vibrant and exciting. Red inspires desire with a strong link to sexuality and increased appetites. The director used red to lighten the rooms with dark backgrounds and worn by the male actor who is the husband. Blue is for peace, harmony, unity, trust, truth, security, confidence, cleanliness, depression, loyalty, immortality, and stability. In “Maame Hw3” the color was seen at the end of the video worn by the female actress and her being pregnant. We can see from her facial expression that even though she’s sad about the falling of her marriage she’s till saved the life of her unborn baby, since she could have lost the pregnancy due to the constant abuse if she had stayed. “So I'm parking all my tools, I'm going back a home” (0.25).
