Malapropism And Meaning: Does This Bug You?
Pun My friend doesn’t like spiders so one time I took a fake one and held it up and asked "Does this bug you?". This is a pun based on the same words but different context meaning which makes it funny. Oxymoron An oxymoron would be like saying that my dad does not feed us. Then saying that he cooks us dinner every day at 6pm. This shows an oxymoron because I am going back on what I said before and not making sense of the sentences context. Malapropism Saying "We have to go to the cat store and get the food right meow" is a malapropism. We are changing the words now to meow because they sound alike. Sarcasm A day or two ago I stepped on a spider and said "Delicious!" This is a great show of sarcasm because it is making fun of the situation by
mocking it. Verbal Irony One time I was drawing and I made a mistake, my friend was like “Great job dummy” This is a form of verbal irony because he did not mean good job; in fact he meant what a terrible job.
