Maleeka Quotes
Have you ever been judged by anyone ? how does this change the way you look at yourself ? Yes I have been judged because of the way I look or the color of my skin . in some cases , this does change the way I look at myself . In the novel the skin I'm in the main character Maleeka has a hard time finding herself because of what people think or her . In my opinion, I feel like Maleeka shouldn't care about what people think of her our status more times than not , is defined by what we look like, how we dress and where we come from

Most important status presents itself for this reason . Especially in the novel the skin I'm in by Sharon flake . In this novel , status plays the following role of Maleeka . In the book of the skin I'm in Maleeka has to go through a lot of judgement due to the way people look at her . However , everyone thinks she has big lips a really dark face also she is poor so MAleeka doesn't have clothes . On page 4 it says “seems like people been teasing me all my life . If it ain't about my color , its my clothes” . In this quote it shows us how it affects the way Maleeka looks at herself because of everyones opinion . What only does status play a role in Sharon flake’s novel , it always plays a role in the larger world .

My experience of being judged was when I was in the 6th grade I was coming into middle school and it was hard for me to fit in so I was by myself one day I walked into class to my seat and a tall skinny boy would always talk about me because of the way dressed . This affected me by thinking bad about myself . After it affected me, I started to learn how to not care about what people has to say about me . As well as personally being categorized , status continues in the larger world

We’ve all been self-conscious about something we can’t change about ourselves at least once in our lives. It’s an instinct to want other people to see you as the best you can be, or more- regardless of whether it’s the real you or not. In the story Senior Picture Day by Michael Serros, a girl feels her appearance categorizes her in the eyes of the public. In her case she looks Indian, and she considers this a negative physical trait to have inherited. It never bothered her until her selfish friend, Terri, used her Indian appearance against her in order to make someone dislike her. If this would’ve happened to me in the fifth grade, I would be pinching my nose until senior year too.…

I was often degraded as my sister was the star child - intelligent, beautiful, and social. When people conversed with me, they would talk to me about my sister while taunting me for not being like her. These criticisms hurt my self-confidence in a great way. However, with time I realized that what people say should not be my focus, rather I have to achieve my own success with or without the support of others. I worked hard, got into the University of Houston, and now I have the top GPA in my graduating batch. Over time, I learned to be better at conversation and put more trust in God. I developed my personality to make sure I was not like those who spread negativity and caused others to feel bad about themselves. The person who I was 4 years ago was a depressed and insecure person, the person I am now is a strong and happy person. I learned that basing your life on the negativity people approach you with is not a good indicator of who you are. We have to make sure we grow constantly while ensuring others grow with us while keeping in mind that we all have different strengths and weaknesses. We are capable of success and we are all worthy beings, we must believe in our capabilities while supporting others. The impact of words are very real and very tough. Be kind wherever you find…

People’s physical beauty is somewhat important to how they see themselves because it affects their confidence. Sometimes when people are nicely dressed, do their hairs or makeup, they feel more confident about themselves than they do if they didn’t. In our culture we almost see a lack of physical beauty or a physical deformity as a disability that prevents you from being like other people. We allow our confidence and self-esteem influence our abilities. The more confidence a person has the less limitation they put on themselves. A person with a physical disability or deformity might feel less free or confident about themselves because how society might perceive them. For example, the first time Lucy is wearing her mask when she is celebrating Halloween she says, “I felt such freedom: I waltzed up to people effortlessly and boldly.” When she wore the mask for the first time she realized how self-conscious she was about her appearance and how that affected her confidence. Some people would probably feel the same way Lucy did if they had faced what Lucy had through her life. Although she was a brave and strong person for fighting her disease, the thing that affected her confidence the most was her looks.…
