Maleficent: Movie Analysis

Disney conveyed many life lessons or themes in the movie Maleficent; this movie teaches that greed sometimes causes you to lose everything. According to the movie, The king was dying, and they needed a new king fast. The only way for another person to become king was by… killing Maleficent. Stephen knew Maleficent since he was little, so he thought “If I kill her I would become king!” But Stephen didn't have the nerve to kill her so when Maleficent feel asleep he cut off her wings. Stephen always thought living in the castle would be the best thing. Even when he was little he thought it would be the best thing ever. This supports the theme because when Stephen became king he had a beautiful baby girl, her name was Aurora, and they had a ceremony
for her and Stephen didn't invite Maleficent to the ceremony. When Maleficent heard about this she was furious that Stephen;first didn't invite her to the ceremony, and also cut off her wings… she went to the castle. When she got there everyone gasped in fear… she wanted to grant the baby a wish, her wish was “Everyone that comes across you will always like you” the second thing she said was“She's a beautiful girl” but she still ended up putting a curse on the baby instead of Stephen. The baby's name was Aurora. The curse was “ On her 16 birthday she will break her finger on the spinning wheel and fall into a deep sleep forever, but can be broken by true love's KISS!” Another example found in the text shows that Stephen still wanted revenge on Maleficent even though he had cut off her wings and acted like he was her friend just to become king. The way he was going to get revenge on her was… by killing her. Because Maleficent put a curse on Aurora(the baby)to stay asleep for ever when she turns 16. Since she was to break her finger on the spinning wheel they through away all the spinning wheels they had. This also supports the theme because when Stephen’s army attempts to kill her the first time a lot of people get hurt even the king got hurt. The second time they tried to kill Maleficent, Maleficent built her own wall to hide behind. When they noticed that she had made the wall they all tried to get past it, but it was impossible for them to get through the wall. When it was Aurora’s 16th birthday the fairies took her to her dad, her dad put her in her room but somehow she got out and find a room with a bunch of spinning wheels in it and she was really confused but ended up touching the sharp metal part and she broke her finger and her finger started to bleed.
She fell out and landed on the ground that very moment every one knew that's when she had been but into the deep sleep forever. The final evidence from the text that supports this theme is when Stephen ended up losing everything that was very important to him. He had lost his very own kid (Aurora) she had to be raised by fairies most of her life, because of the curse, he lost his wife, his friendship against Maleficent, and not only did he lose all of that… he even lost his own his own life. If he wouldn't of cut off Maleficent wings off he would most likely still be alive.That shows that Stephen wanted power instead of friendship, but he didn't think that everything would turn out to be like this. Maleficent was Aurora’s true love kiss. Because it shows that Stephan was happier to have power than friendship, because he had the nerve to act like Maleficent friend just to become king.When he cut off her wings he used metal chains to cut them off.When Maleficent woke up she started screaming and crying on the other hand Stephan was listening to her and holding the
wings. Stephan was hiding in the woods behind the tree while, Maleficent was hurting really bad and it was hard for her to move. She ended up getting her wings that's another thing Stephan lost Maleficent's wings. This theme is a valuable lesson that teaches people greed can cause you to lose everything.
