We watched the band get off of the buses and skip in through the gates and I told her one more time, “You should join the band Alexa.”
She replied with the same answer as always, “No, I’m good.”
I sent her and my husband up to the top of the stands to set up the camera that was going to record the first marching show of the season. I continued to set up the concession stand and let the night …show more content…
I pulled Alexa over to the side as we walked back over to the concession stand.
I said “I don’t want you to feel pressured about joining this band. You shouldn’t say you want to join if you really don’t want to.”
She replied “No, I’ll join the band for freshmen year and see how it goes. It will help me in the future with college anyway.”
I could tell that she wasn’t telling the whole truth, but I let it go. I finished walking over to the concession stand while Alexa went back to the stands to sit with her friends. I of course was worried that we had gone too far and now Alexa felt that she had to do marching band. She said that she was fine and that she was choosing to do it.
