Margot: A Fictional Narrative
I turn to face Margot, my face red with anger. “I’m the vulture? You're the one who’s being an unfeeling, selfish jerk! You left him! You! He is not your property, he is his own person. I finally find someone who makes me happy, and you make me feel like a villain! A good sister would be happy for me! Why can't you just let go of your bitterness, and just support me for once!” I whip my head around and grab Josh’s hand. “Josh is my boyfriend now, and you’re just going to have to deal with it.” I stomp off to nowhere in particular and drag Josh with me.
I don't know what I’ll do when I come home, but I don’t care about that right now. I stood up to Margot, I have Josh, and I’m finally living my own life for me.

Moreover, in this belief in astrology Ying-ying finds a sort of positive counterpart to her earlier, debilitating superstitions and fatalism, for it is a belief not in the inevitability of external events but in the power of an internal quality.…

Cecelia Everhart was a raven haired beauty who was quite dull and vain. Seated next to her was her husband, Charles, a rather tiny fellow. Their daughter was an exact replica of her mother, sitting on the edge of her chair and drinking tea with her pinky extended.…

In this section of Let Me Hear Your Voice it becomes pretty evident that Anne-Marie is cured. Her development is nothing short of miraculous. The effectiveness of Anne-Marie’s behavioral intervention is occurring at a time when such an intervention was still considered by some as “morally reprehensible” (pg. 149) with the general consensus being that “Autistic children do not recover”. Yet here, after an eight-month period, Anne-Marie is able to empirically demonstrate with the Vineland test that she is functioning within normal developmental ranges for her age group with a 90% confidence interval.…

The color of my skin, texture of my curls, and sound of my accent does not solely define who I am. I define myself as Mariela De Loa, a Catholic, Mexican-American young woman. My adolescence consisted of me growing up in a middle class household with my mother, father, and three siblings. From a young age my parents embeded religious morals into my norms and values. I was taught to put God above all and treat those around me with respect. My parents also enforced the Spanish language while I was growing up. By the time I entered kindergarten, Spanish was my dominant language, so I couldn’t speak English as well. It was difficult for me to get along with other kids because none of them looked like me or spoke the same language as me. Essentially,…
