Marriage is a form of relationship between people who share rights and obligations to each other after promising to be companions for a lifetime. It is the physical, mental and spiritual unison of two souls. We have a need to reach out to other people and form a close bond with them.
There are different types of marriage, but the general types are civil marriage and religious marriage. People choose the kind of marriage which is suitable for them. As for me I prefer to live with the person together first in the civil marriage and if it works out to marry him for real. The main advantage of the civil marriage is the possibility to get to know your mate closer, to see his failings and to learn to deal or live with them.
I would also like to mention the same-sex marriage which is legal in many countries, but is still prohibited in the majority of remaining countries. I think that gay marriage should be legalized without doubt. One of our civil liberties is the pursuit of happiness. So if two people of the same sex feel affection for one another and want to start a family they have a right to get married. I believe that those who are against the same-sex marriages are not used to thinking outside the box. They see trees, but they do not see the wood. Maybe if the government admitted that gay marriages are guite normal these people would eventually understand it too. I think they need to be reminded that they are not the only people on the planet and we are all different. I think we should respect each other beliefs and desires as long as they do not harm anyone.
Unfortunately marriages are often unsuccessful and the divorce rate is getting higher. There are many reasons for that. For instance sometimes people rush into marriage too soon, especially young and unexperienced ones.
