Martin Luther King Jr "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin" Martin luther King Jr. was the leader of the African American civil rights movement. He was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta. He is the grandchild of the pastor of Ebenezer Baptist. He stood up for African American who wanted to be equal to whites, he was the leader of the civil rights movement. Martin luther King Jr. protested for equal rights for African Americans like being able to sit anywhere on the bus, using the same water fountain, and being able to attend the same school. was the middle child. He lived in a caring and healthy environment. Martin Luther kings dad was very strict, disciplined his kids, when the mom was the gentle and caring parent. The parents could not protect them from racism completely. His father Martin Luther King Sr. also was fighting against racism and prejudice. Martin Luther King Sr left a impression on Martin Luther King by not encouraging class dominance . Martin Luther King Jr. Did not complete high school because he was super gifted in school that he skipped a couple years of high school. He went Booker T. Washing high school then went straight in to college in his junior year of high school. He graduated from Morehouse college in 1948 with his BOA in sociology. At Morehouse Martin Luther King was exposed to the writings of Henry David Thoreau. He was galvanized by Henry David Thoreau’s essay on Civil Disobedience. He used his knowledge to begin his long journey towards equality for African Americans. At seventeen years old, he spoke in his very first public speaking at the Ebenezer baptist. Martin Luther King Jr attended his first integrated school. King listened and absorbed the teaching of many inspirational leaders. This where he became exposed to the reflective teachings of Gandhi. He graduated with a Bachelor of Divinity degree. He excelled in all of his classes, he became a valedictorian of his class and was appointed class president.
