Martin gave his “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps at the Lincoln Memorial after the march was organized. The march took place at Washington in 1963. A fourth of the people were white out of million people (McGuire & Wheeler, 2018). Although a fourth was white people, they still showed up because they know that all lives matter. They thought that segregation was wrong, so they attended. The masterpiece, “I Have A Dream” speech, had became known because of the March on Washington (Staff, 2009). On December 1st of the year 1955, Rosa Parks was taken to jail for refusing to give up her seat, right before Martin was starting to get noticed (McGuire & Wheeler, 2018). Since Martin was now known, he decided to do something about Rosa Parks standing up for her rights. Martin was asked to be the leader of the Bus Boycott, after Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat. The Bus Boycott lasted 381 days (Staff, 2009). The Bus Boycott went really well. Martin had found out that after his first “sit in”, African Americans were doing it during lunch in 27 other southern cities. Martin proceeded to support and to continue with the nonviolent methods during the protests that are happening (Martin Luther King Jr, 2018).
