As I walk through the half abolished bleak, gray building my footsteps echo all around me removing the hope that I might ever encounter another survivor. My body begins to tremble as I look at my hand starting to twitch, tapping lightly against my leg, the seizures have been getting more frequent as they are, unfortunately, one of the side effects of the first stages of the plague. I see a flash of movement out of the corner of my eye and turn to the side suddenly. "Hello?” I call out in hopes of encountering another human being.

A revolting stench is being emitted in waves from the mutated human. The sight in front of me is growling like some sort of beast foaming at the mouth and licking its lips. What ever hair is left on its head was hanging greasy and long, lined with blood. The face, permanently etched with a painful grimace. As the eyes of the creature roll up and down my body scrutinizing every detail, I felt exposed and cringed as all the muscles in my body tightened. His hunched back is crooked and skeleton-like. I feel my breath falter and eyes widen as I recall this creature being the last stage of the virus. Slowly I open my eyes but all I see is blurriness and my vision is really hazy… All I can see is the soft silhouette of a woman standing over me. Suddenly I feel a soft, pudgy, cool, finger press down between my eyes and I feel my eyes roll back into my skull...

Panting heavily I could finally see a building in the near distance. I ran five miles every other day so this shouldn't have been anything but the fact that I was in my work clothes and that I was pushing a four-hundred pound motorcycle my journey a lot more gruesome and tiring. But it took my about an hour which was about the time I thought it would have taken me to push my bike home and this was only supposed to be about three miles away, but, I was probably just tired because of the heat... As I got closer I was a sign that said - Welcome to Chicago! “What?” I breathed puzzled beyond comprehension…
I lived Edgewater and I thought I was heading West, Chicago is South of Edgewater… I think I have my cardinal directions mixed up… Nevertheless, as long as I got gas I would me happy I needed to get home as soon as possible, who knows how fast this disease
