I fortunately was able to somewhat get an idea of formulas and later on the final test, while I still failed every volume and surface area problem, I prepared myself still in the end for what it would be like later when I went back over it in the following grades. Two years later, in 8th grade, I was faced again by the volume and surface area subject and, like I said before, I was prepared for what it would be like yet I had forgotten basically everything I had learned before. In this final portfolio essay, I will be showing my growth in memorizing and using formulas to find volume, surface area, and area in geometry using tests from 6th grade and my final test on the subject from 8th grade. My samples will demonstrate how after a long struggle with this geometry subject, I have conquered my main weakness in …show more content…
More specifically problems 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 in the chapter test where I had to find the surface area and the volume of 3D figures using my knowledge or in this case, lack thereof, formulas for finding the surface area for cubes and cylinders, and the volume of prisms and cylinders. I knew nothing of the subject and had every volume and surface area problem incorrect. I hadn’t studied for the test either which has been a problem I’ve always and still now need to address. In addition to that, their was also the fact that I barely even showed work throughout the whole test, a struggle I have also began to overcome. My habits showed laziness and carelessness, for it looks as if I never even really went back to check over my work. As a result, I had scored only developings on all of the subjects the tests went over in the subject and only one accomplished in the finding areas of polygons subject. It was a tough year in math for me, with flip flopping between the highest math class and lower ones constantly switch but despite that, I was able to stay in the highest math class for most of the
