I am a herbivore, which means I am the primary consumer in my ecosystem along with other primary consumers. As female giraffes, we can grow up to about fifteen feet tall! That’s pretty high compared to a human like yourself. Scientists call us Giraffa camelopardalis. We can weigh up to about three thousand pounds! We giraffes have suffered significant declines in our population in the past decade with a total dropping of thirty percent across Africa alone. A mix of habitat loss, habitat fragmentation, impacts of war and civil unrest, and poaching are contributors to our extermination. The first reason being is that it is wrong to kill. Consider how you would feel if your son or daughter was murdered. I am sure you would be devastated and would demand justice for the person who took their precious life away from you.
