How you address a patient throughout the duration of their visit can have a significant impact on the quality of their appointment. Being a medical assistant requires not only medical knowledge but a significant amount of social skills as well – making the patient feel important and respected is essential to having return clients. While greeting the patient by name is imperative, finding out the patient’s preferred title will help them feel more comfortable and improve the patient-assistant relationship. For example, a woman named Jennifer Smith could be referred to as Ms. Smith, Jennifer, or perhaps a nickname such as Jenny; whatever the patient favors should be used frequently to reaffirm a personal relationship between them and the medical…
The medical specialities I feel the medical assistant has most opportunity to participate interact most witht the provider... as in additional testing to help with a diagnosis is working at orthopedic office. Working in an orthopedic office you can see many deformities of bones or muscle in patients such as hip dysplasia, arthritis, bowed legs, joint pain, osteoporosis and spinal fractures etc. When researching little more about what duties the orthopedic medical assistant does it is a combination of patient interaction, treatment and clinical procedures. Medical assistant have to complete the patient's history, taking vital signs, prepare lab sample for testing, preparing a patient for X-rays and explain the procedure. Accroding Maddox (2015) it stated that "to help a patient treatment to get a better diagnose condition is to perform a range of motion…

Self schedule some time it can bring a lot of stress to the manager who deal with scheduling.especially when nurses fail to follow the rules of self scheduling .But on the other hand most nurses feel like when they have control of their schedule they deliver better care to the patient due to higher empoyees satification. I do believe that some people will certainly take advantage of this and never want to work a weekend or holiday. These are the situations in which the manager needs to step in and assist with the schedule to meet the patient’s needs.Great post Kelli!…
On February 8, 2016 I was able to get a chance and interview Griselda Carreon, who is a Medical Assistant at Dr. Sosa Fernando MD, PA Clinic. Medical assistants should be patient and understand that everyone doesn't learn at the same pace, and it takes a little longer for people to really understand something so foreign to them. Teaching a patient information about healthcare, bills, treatment plans, and medical records could be challenging, but the medical assistant can use their form of a learning style to transfer and provide information to the patient in a quick and easy way. To avoid the clash of learning styles, medical assistant should provide a balanced learning experience. For example, the medical assistant may be a visual learner, but the patient might be a verbal leaner, which in turn means the medical assistant can provide both a visual, and verbal learning experience…

Medical assistants possess a diverse set of specialized skills, allowing them to treat patients with various ailments, injuries, and chronic conditions. Medical assistants are not qualified to perform the same procedures as primary physicians, surgeons, RNs, or other higher-level healthcare providers. However, medical assistant training prepares these individuals to perform non-invasive exams on patients and to perform certain tasks under physician direction and supervision. A time I used sequence and precise was when I first started my job as a medical assistant. I had never done this job before. So I wrote down everything I was being shown. I also wrote down step by step directions on how to do things in the computer and what to do with each patient. I would ask questions over and over to clarify that I was doing it correctly. When I was being told how to do things I would ask for explanations as to why we did things a certain way. This helped me a lot when patients would ask me why we do certain things. I asked a lot of questions about what we did and now I am able to explain to patients why they are on certain medications or why we are asking to do certain tests. I definitely switched between the two of these during the training process. I feel more comfortable when I am organized and doing things step by step while working.…
