2. My officical job description should be outlined on the volunteer task list which can be found in my final employability skills portfolio. However in my own words, as a surigical inpateint assistant, I am mainly responsible in assisting the staff members who work before and after surgery. This means preparing patients by having them wear the appropriate sugrical outfits (gowns) which can vary depending on their surgery, dealing with patients charts and pateints belongings. After surgery tasks would include getting equipment for the inpatient staff, assisting them with patients, and helping out the clericals.
3. So far,
I have only recieved CPR training.
4. As part of the Health and Wellness SHSM program, the requirements to obtain the red seal inlcude
⦁ Undergo specific training (ex: CPR, infectioncontrol)
⦁ Doing a CLA in each of those subjects
⦁ Completeing the required courses (English, math, and science)
⦁ Co-op
⦁ Completing other tasks such as "reach aheads", or "job twinning"
5. I found my Co-op to be something I will never forget and if I had to choose one thing I liked the most about my experience, it would be the fact that it has given me pratical skills and exposed me to what the work field really is like. After completeing my cooperative education placement, I can tell that I have learnt and matured a lot as a person. Co-op taught me the skills such as how to write a resume, have a successful interview, and be responsible not for yourself but for others, much better than any book or video could. I am already applying the skills I learnt in co-op through my personal life as evident through applying for a summer job.
6. I would rate myself an 8.5/10. This is because I believe that I have given my best effort in helping everyone at my placement but I do feel that I could have done more. Mistakes have been made and I have learnt how to fix majority of them but there are still a few challenging ones that may require more time such as comforting patients at their lowest points.
