The accompanying text states “What’s your New Years resolution?” and as if Honey Boo Boo is responding, the text says “I mean, I’m already pretty cool. But, I wanna get cooler”. The effect of the meme is that the reader is left finding the meme comical possibly making the reader laugh, I believe that this is the author’s project in the piece. Given that most memes are only a few words the creator of the piece must have a set intention and in this meme’s case the author’s goal is to provide comic relief.
