The first thing about memorial day that I do is. Every year my family buys red poppies to honor those who have died. We buy them from the veterans and they are always wearing them to honor the people who fought with them. The reason that the red poppy is so symbolic is because of this poem “We cherish too, the Poppy red That grows on fields where valor led, It seems to signal to the skies That blood of heroes never dies.” This poem shows that the red of the poppy is like the blood of those who have died and that they will still always be with us.

When I used to go to his house me and my brother would ask him to tell us stories about the war. He would tell us this cool stories about how when he went to go to the war he was supposed to be in the army but asked to be in the marine she showed a letter from someone who recommended him to be in the marines and they put him in the marines. After hearing the stories that he has told me I am so grateful for all of those who have fought for us. He is very special to me and I am lucky to still have him with me today. He told me that the only reason he was still alive was because of his civilian life which he was a mechanic.
In conclusion memorial day is a very special day and means a lot to some people. I know I will get my poppy take my moment of silence and appreciate that I still have my grandpa. I hope that you will honor those who have died
