What is the MEPI Youth Summer Leadership Institute? It is a fully-funded five-week intensive leadership training program in the U.S. for undergraduate students. Participants develop leadership and collective problem-solving skills, exploring U.S. history and culture to expand their leadership skills and knowledge. The Program consists of hands-on leadership training workshops, academic sessions, site visits, community service projects, optional home stays and other opportunities for interaction with Americans peers, and other cultural activities. The program runs from June 26th, and August 07th, 2012 for six weeks. It includes a five-week academic residency program at the host institution, and a one-week educational study tour designed to complement and reinforce the concepts explored in the academic residency. Students also participate in an alumni conference held in the Middle East or North Africa in early 2013. The program is fully funded, including international airfare, travel within the United States, accommodation, food, and program fees. Can I apply for the MEPI Youth Summer Leadership Institute? Yes you can if… You are an Algerian citizen, living in Algeria, and attending school in Algeria, You will be 18 to 24 years old as of June 1st , 2012, You are currently in your 1st, 2nd , 3rd or 4th year of college or university, Are committed to returning to your home country/community following completion of the program, You still have one year of studies to finish at your return to Algeria, You are proficient in English, You have a sustained high level of academic achievement, as indicated by grades, awards, and teacher recommendations, You are mature, responsible, independent, open-minded, tolerant, and thoughtful You demonstrate strong leadership potential, You have a strong interest in learning
