Employee Portfolio: Motivation Action Plan

* Determine the motivational strategy or strategies that would likely be most appropriate for each of your three employees on basis of their individual characteristics. Indicate how you would leverage their employee evaluations to motivate each of the three employees. Describe one or more of the motivational theories and explain how the theories connect to each of your selected motivational strategies.

Team Member Name | Summary of Individual Characteristics | Motivational Strategy and Action Plan | Relevant Theory | Jackie | Jackie shows to have a great attitude and is a very positive employee. She goes above and beyond to do a great job at her work. | I would suggest that a goal-setting strategy would be a good one for Jackie to work on. She needs extra steps to show her that she can achieve more. She is definitely a hard worker and will be able to handle the additional work. | Goal setting strategies assign difficult tasks to individuals to complete. The reward is the timely completion of the task which gives the person a sense of accomplishment. | Xavier | Xavier is a good employee with a high sense of job satisfaction. He is highly engaged in work. He has a positive work ethic and able to handle emotional situations with moderation. | I would suggest the self-determination strategy for Xavier. He is already a hard worker and uses this strategy in his work effort. However we believe that a more focused placement of this strategy will help him to be more successful at his job. | The self-determination theory is what is suggested for Xavier. Since he is already a team player and engaged in his work, he just needs to motivated by his own internal satisfaction. This would be a better plan for him instead of external gratification such as rewards or prizes. | Vonsha | Vonsha is a good employee but she does not seem very motivated on the job. She shows a low sense of job

For each employee there are different theories that we can be applied to Maritza, Lisa and Gail. The theory to apply to Maritza is goal setting. Goal Setting is a “theory that says that specific and difficult goals, with feedback, lead to higher performance (Robbins & Judge, 2011, pg 215). Maritza is the employee that requires goal to be set and measured throughout the year. As goals are met we can add additional goals so that at the end of the year everything is measurable and attainable. Include Maritza on meetings regarding the changes in her task or changes within the company that effect her task so that she is an active participant and does not feel left out.…

Although I tend to use a goal oriented strategy in my life, it is not always the best suited for all occasions of motivating myself. Sometimes there is no real obtainable goal or I may be forced to do something that I do not want to do because there is no real payoff in the end. In this case I tend to look at it like the sooner I complete the task at hand, the sooner I can stop performing the task. Other times at work where there is motivation to complete tasks to the best…
