STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

" Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence!"

-Vince Lombardi

The five natural elements aside, the modern world today revolves around a sixth human developed energy i.e. Electricity. From telegraphy and telephony to electrical circuits for power, Electrical Engineering today focuses on a broad range of disciplines. The progress of this field has immensely influenced the advancement of technology. The vast application potential when combined with the notion of management intrigues me and I’m keen to continue my academic pursuit in this direction.

A proclivity for Math’s and Science since childhood had resulted in 90+ aggregate in the respective subjects in high school and sparked the initial interest. A tryst with a Physics concept,
‘Electromagnetic Force’ at the Higher Secondary Level invoked the zeal to foray into this discipline.
It was during this period that my teachers instilled in me a strong inclination towards the subject. This led me to opt for Electrical and Electronics Engineering in my undergraduate study as it not only requires analytical thinking but also involves hands-on practical application and is challenging.

My credentials include Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Annamacharya Institute of Technology and science, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University , Hyderabad, India which covered a broad spectrum of subjects which include Electromagnetic field, power electronics, electrical measurements, Pulse and Digital circuits, computers’ methods in power system controls, digital signal processing, Power Systems(1to3), Electro Mechanics, Micro processors and Micro Controllers, High voltage Engineering and Utilization of electrical energy. I am also well versed in programming languages like C, C++ & JAVA. I was also introduced to management based subjects like Managerial Economics & Financial Analysis (MEFA),

Electronic data interchange (EDI) is the structured transmission of data between organizations such as documents or business data from one computer system to another computer system electronically. The transmission is done from one business organization to another similar organization without human intervention. EDI can be used to describe the technology by which business documents (such as orders, invoices, shipping contracts, etc) are transmitted electronically. Under this concept, a file is copied to a diskette and loaded into another computer or transmitted over Internet or Intranet. A more precise definition implies direct computer-to-computer communication of business transactions in a standard format where each computer understands the meaning of each field without human assistance. EDI began in the early 1970s when the transportation industry (i.e. ocean, trucking and rail) formed the Transportation Data Coordinating Committee (TDCC). The TDCC is a non-profit organization in Washington DC and organizes data standards, formats codes, and protocols for the transportation of business documents. The first TDCC standard, composed of 45 transaction sets, was published in 1975. ASC X12 was introduced in 1979 and had the standards on those developed by the TDCC. Computer technology was not very developed that time and the majority of computers were mainframe computers running proprietary operating systems. There were numerous modem standards and most protocols for transmitting files were supplier specific. Even sending tapes was not easily accomplished because some used the 8 bit character encoding (EBCDIC system) to store alphanumeric data and some used ASCII. The basic reasons for the introduction of EDI include low cost, reduction in paper dependency, improved customer service, reduction in mistakes and improved competitiveness. Since the emergence of the Internet, EDI has received a great deal of research attention,…

Having thoroughly enjoyed Mathematics and Physics throughout the course of my school years, I wished to find a course that combined these subjects and accommodated my specific needs; a course that would require an enquiring mind, the solving problems, the analysing and evaluating of data, manual dexterity and the ability to think logically. Most of all I wanted a course that would engage my mind. In my opinion, Electrical and Electronic engineering fit this requirement…
