When it comes to learning about women’s studies, one topic always arises, female sexuality. A woman’s sexuality is her own and her own choice. By definition female sexuality is complicated and involves behaviors and processes from many aspects that led to sexual activity. Female sexuality includes areas that are pertaining to biological sex, body image, self-esteem, personality, sexual orientation, and much more.1 These areas are extremely important in the culmination of a healthy relationship between a woman and her sexuality. But can a woman be so healthy in her sexuality that it turns into a transgression against men?

in numerous ways, including sexual discrimination, denigration of men, violence against men, and sexual objectification of men.2 Is this really possible, can men be subjected to the tortures of sexual objectification like women and have violent acts committed onto them? It’s an uncommonly advertised occurance, but it does happen and more often than one can think. More and more women are taking on the attitudes and power of men and sharing a lesson for whoever is around to listen.
One example of this is female empowerment.
The saying, “I am Woman, hear me Roar!”, comes to mind. This saying embodies a declaration that we are the lion of our jungle and we don’t need a man to save us, feed us, or rule over us. When it comes to female empowerment, women are simply learning to take control of their lives and put their destiny in their own hands. We take our image and sexuality and define our beauty and self-worth on our own merit and not by a man’s attention. We seek more education to climb the corporate ladder and make more than our male counterparts, numbers rising fast to the women who are in a high-level, executive position. Many women are beginning to make the rules that they can have a life after having a baby, returning to work stronger than before, post-baby body leaner than ever, and to top it off, they are doing it in six-inch Christian Louboutin heels. …show more content…

Another example of misandry is the rise of women sexually objectifying men. At the turn of the century, women deciding to take their female sexuality into their own hands and not give in to waiting for marriage for their husband to be their first, last, and only. Women, and girls, are giving into the idea of having sex like a man. Specifically, not caring about establishing a relationship before having sexual intercourse, leaving emotions out of sex as to not become attached or want more than the physical, and increasing their partner count for the sheet enjoyment of sex. Women have fun in conversations discussing penis size, oral techniques, and the duration of sex. In this, they mark the man by a nickname for other women to know as a guideline and/or precaution. This objectifying has been done by men for many ages and continues to happen, but women are shaking the tables and turning them back on them. Shows like, “Sex and the City”, “Girls”, and “Gossip Girl” have women reclaiming their sexuality from men and choosing men based on physical attributes rather than personality.
The movie “Magic Mike” had women running to the theaters to see Channing Tatum and others strip down to their skivvies. The movies sole purpose was to show physically attractive men performing scandalous dance moves and stripping down to barely-there underwear for women’s enjoyment. Is this acceptable because it’s men? Women have been subjected to this in movies, which were followed by heavy criticism. “Magic Mike” opened with peak numbers and rave reviews. In our society, strip shows are no longer for men to enjoy; it’s for women as well. Places in Las Vegas cater to the women by showing male strippers, The Chippendales, and offering X-rated shows with male nudity. Women are also allowing themselves to enjoy the reigns of soft porn.
Changing direction of misandry, the aspect of violence against men. It’s not often spoken about, but it does happen. For example, John and Lorena Bobbitt. In 1993, Lorena Bobbitt alleged that her husband had raped her and after the incident she laid in bed. At some point in the night, Lorena got up and went to the kitchen for a glass of water and grabbed a knife. She went to the bedroom and proceeded to cut of her husband’s penis from the base. She took the severed penis and drove from their home, throwing the penis into a field before calling the cops.
A similar incident occurred in China, in 2008, when Lin brought home a mistress to his wife, Xie, and proposed a threesome. Xie showed her disapproval, she cut off his penis.
Acts of violence against men seem to occur after they have harmed the woman.
Can acts of violence against men just be self-defense? This aspect of misandry can be viewed and interpreted in a variety of ways. In the article, Misandry and Aggression Against men Is Real, they author writes, “This interpretation further implies that women’s aggression is a reaction to men’s actions towards them, blaming the victim for his plight. There are many factors contributing to this, but the most relevant and most important is the radical feminist philosophy which holds that the sexes are adversarial poised; that all forms of violence are derived from the power men have over women; and that men are a class of aggressors, from which arise individuals with greater or lesser aggressive capacity. Hence the perception-men are powerful and women powerless, and therefore men are the violent gender and women the victims.”
“Let there be honest debate on the issue of gender violence vis-à-vis the aggressor and the causes thereof instead of approaching the issue from a biased premise.” The topic of misandry is new and the man in action can only interpret its aspects. Misandry to me is debatable and exploring it offers an insight to the male mind. Is misandry just justification to a bruised ego by the male or an eye-for-an-eye effect of misogyny? In our realties, both context are fact and need to be
rectified.
